General Responsibilities of SGA Officers:

  1. You are expected to participate in all SGA sponsored events. Failure to participate will result in removal of office. Two unexcused absences will result in removal from office. SGA dates are mandatory – sports practices do not trump Student Government Events. If you choose to participate in sports practice instead of an SGA event, it will be considered unexcused. If there is a conflict, I will make every effort to work with you; however, SGA should be a priority for ANYONE who runs for office.
  2. You will be responsible for coming to monthly meetings; Executive Officers will meet twice a month. One unexcused absence will result in a warning, two & you will be on probation; after the third, you will be removed from office. Meetings will be held during IF. No other obligations should take precedence. You are expected to put SGA first during IF.
  3. SUMMER DATES: you will be responsible for attending & helping with Freshman Orientation, Wolverine Days & signing up to give a minimum of one tour of the campus during the summer (Class Officers only). Executive Officers will be required to attend the Teacher Breakfast. These dates are subject to change based on calendar changes
  4. Wolverine Days have not been scheduled but will be in late July
  5. Summer Tours July – will be scheduled in May
  6. Executive Only: Teacher Breakfast July 29th
  7. Plan, implement & execute Homecoming & Spirit Activities
  8. Planning sessions will take place in April/May 2015
  9. You are required to be at all of these meetings
  10. Serve as an ambassador for our school & attend events as asked by the Administration
  11. Mandatory Leadership Retreat TBD.
  12. Fees:$100. This will cover the cost of t-shirts, sweatshirt, dress shirt, name tag, cardigan/vest, food, etc.

Application Requirements:

  1. All parts of the application must be submitted ONLINEWednesday, February 24, 2016. If your application is not turned in by 3:45 pm on this date, you will not be eligible to run.
  2. You must have a GPA of 3.0. If you do not have a 3.0 average, you will not be eligible to run.
  3. Any persons with discipline issues will be ineligible to run.
  4. Once all applications are turned in & looked over & vetted, the ballot will be published on Monday, February 29th.
  5. If you are eligible to run, campaigning will run from March 9th until March 16th .
  6. You are responsible for the putting up & taking down of all campaign posters
  7. Posters MUST be approved by Mary Margaret Jordan in the front office with Ms. Gordy’s signature – posters without the signature will be taken down
  8. Any negative campaigning will be shut down & the candidate will be deemed ineligible to run
  9. You are ONLY allowed to put up posters in the halls and common areas – no stairwells
  10. You may have a total of twenty (20) posters up in the school. Standard poster size. 16x20
  11. You may have five (5) yard signs on the outside property of WFHS
  12. There will be NO Meet the Candidates. NO GIVE AWAYS of ANY kind will be allowed this year this includes WEARABLE campaign gear – shirts, buttons, stickers, wristbands, etc – and food items. The only campaigning you may do is through posters, social media and word of mouth.
  13. Elections will be held on Wednesday, March 16th. You may only campaign from 8 AM until 8:25 AM the day of the election.
  14. Failure to comply with the campaign requirements will result in removal from the ballot.
