1.03definitions

.AInert Fill - A permitted facility that accepts inert waste such as asphalt and concrete exclusively.

.1Inert Solids/Inert Waste: Non-liquid solid waste including, but not limited to, soil and concrete that does not contain hazardous waste or soluble pollutants at concentrations in excess of water-quality objectives established by a regional water board and does not contain significant quantities of decomposable solid waste.

.BClass III Landfill - A landfill that accepts non-hazardous waste such as household, commercial and industrial waste, including construction, remodeling, repair and demolition operations.

.CConstruction and Demolition Waste - Includes solid wastes, such as building materials, packaging, rubbish, debris and rubble resulting from construction, remodeling, repair and demolition operations.

.1Rubbish: Includes both combustible and noncombustible wastes, such as paper, boxes, glass, crockery, metal and lumber scrap, tin cans, and bones.

.2Debris: Includes both combustible and noncombustible wastes, such as leaves and tree trimmings that result from construction or maintenance and repair work.

.DChemical Waste - Includes petroleum products, bituminous materials, salts, acids, alkalis, herbicides, pesticides, organic chemicals and inorganic wastes.

.ESanitary Wastes – Includes:

.1Garbage: Refuse and scraps resulting from preparation, cooking, distribution or consumption of food.

.2Sewage: Domestic sanitary sewage.

1.04intent

.AOwner is committed to promoting efforts to have the Work performed in an environmentally sensitive manner.

.BTo promote this effort the Contractor is required to:

.1Make reasonable efforts to affect optimum control of solid wastes.

.2Prepare and comply with a Project specific Solid Waste Management Plan.

1.05SUBMITTALS

.ASubmit the following according to the requirements of the Contract Documents:

.1Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan

.aNo later than twenty-eight (28) Days after the start date for the Work stated in the Notice to Proceed, Contractor must schedule and conduct a meeting with Owner to discuss Contractor’s proposed Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan.

.bNo later than forty-five (45) Days after the start date for the Work stated in the Notice to Proceed, prepare and submit three (3) copies of a written and/or graphic Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan including, but not limited to, the following:

.1Permit or license and the location of the solid waste disposal area(s).

.2Procedures for Recycling/Re-Use Program.

.cRevise and resubmit Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan as required by Owner.

.2Review of the Contractor’s Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan will not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for adequate and continuing control of pollutants and other environmental protection measures.

.BPrior to Owner’s recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for final Acceptance of the Work, Contractor must submit two (2) copies of a summary of solid waste generated by the Contractor’s operations.

.1Submit on Form 01515-F1 or other form acceptable to Owner.

.2Include manifests, weight tickets, receipts, and invoices specifically identifying the Project and waste material from:

.aRecycling Centers.

.bClass III Landfills.

.cInert Fills.

.ARecycling: Implement a recycling program that includes separate collection of waste materials of the following types:

.1Concrete.

.2Metal:

.aFerrous.

.bNon-ferrous.

.3Wood.

.4Debris.

.5Glass.

.6Fluorescent light tubes

.7Paper:

.aBond.

.bNewsprint.

.cCardboard and paper packaging materials.

.8Others as appropriate.
