BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

DECLARING A CONCENTRATION: A concentration in the PUAD program is optional. By declaring a concentration, your field requirements will change. You will choose four out of five Field Requirements and take four Concentration Electives chosen from your declared field. Thus, someone who wished to concentrate in Nonprofit Management would take four additional Nonprofit Management classes (GOVT 354,358,NCLC 331,431, ECON 355) for their four Concentration Electives.

ADVISING: By visiting our PIA office in Robinson Hall A201, you can meet with Matt Green, the Academic Coordinator based in the main office. Dr. Ann Ludwick is the Undergraduate Program Director and has walk-in advising hours every semester in Robinson Hall A204. You can also send an email with your questions to: . DEGREE EVALUATION: An analysis of your degree progress is available on Patriotweb under the “Student Records” menu. The Degree Evaluation is used to determine eligibility for graduation, so please talk to Dr. Ludwick or Matt Green about incomplete or inaccurate evaluations.

BASIC CHSS DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 120 hours minimum required for the degree. 45 hours must be Upper Division (numbered at the 300/400 level). Activity oriented courses in PHED and PRLS do not apply. GVIP majors must earn at least a 2.0 average in courses applied to the Major requirements. Electives are necessary to meet the 120 hours required for the degree. How many electives and at what level (Upper or Lower Division) varies in relation to how general education and major requirements are met.

TRANSFER STUDENTS: Transfer students with AA, AS OR AA&S, degrees from the Virginia Community College System may be eligible for exemption from all University General Education requirements and all College of Humanities and Social Sciences additional requirements EXCEPT: ENGL 302. Contact Admissions to confirm your eligibility status.

Transfer students with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution have met all University General Requirements and College additional requirements.

All other transfer student transcripts are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
