General Community Meeting Minutes

June 21, 2017

  1. Motion to call the meeting to order – Gina, Fran
  2. Motion to approve the minutes for April –Gina, Fran (meeting minutes are now online)
  3. Community news:
  4. Brookfield Pop Warner will establish BPW’s own golf tournament, details to follow. Determination of date will be held in closed meeting
  5. BPW Cheer and Football Camp – We are need of campers, please sign up through park and rec. Cost is $30 per athlete. BHS Varsity Football and Cheer will be running drills and assisting the coaching staff. Date July 25-26, 6-8 PM Cadigan
  6. Sunset Sizzler – Support BHS All Athlete Booster Program by sponsoring or participating in the 5K. August 4th at 7 PM. Link for sign up:
  7. BPW Cheer and Football Registration is still underway, late fee now applies to all athletes.
  8. July meeting will be moved to Thursday, July 20th to accommodate the NCTPW meeting, which will now be held on Wednesday, July 19th
  9. Flag football is looking for some volunteers – please consider devoting your time to supporting the future of our program.
  10. Treasurer – Kim Abreu - Current balance is $37,019 which does not include the two scholarships at $500 each
  11. Board updates
  12. Cheer – Kim Saleh, July 23, 1-4, is the NCTPW coaches clinic held at the sports center in Wolcott, cost for each coach is $25, Registration board members must attend the NCTPW July 19th meeting, held in Southbury starting at 7 PM, Still waiting on confirmation that the top three teams from regionals will advance to Disney, the past was top two teams, Practice uniform fitting will be held this week at town hall
  13. Football – Doug Fran Coaches clinic will be held Aug. 13 at 10 am in Plainville, NCTPW has shared the town team counts and we have plenty of teams for healthy competition, we will be following up on flag football rules, and state playoffs could cross state lines to include Central Massachusetts, player safety coaches clinic will be held July 22 in Westport.
  14. Registration –Gina - Football Counts: 10 @ 6U (Flag); 11 @ 8U; 32 @ 10U; 42 @ 12U, 15@ 14U. Tina - Cheer Counts: 43Cheerleaders registered
  15. Concession – Nick – no updates
  16. Scholastic – Johnny - no updates
  17. Equipment –Shed has been organized, Helmets are reconditioned each year, recommend purchase of pop up dummies and additional jersey’s
  18. Communications – Tammy – no update
  19. Fundraising – Jen – Golf outing will be discussed in closed session and recommend a fundraiser devoted to the purchase of new bleachers, the condition of the current bleachers is very poor and poses a safety hazard, new bleachers could cost $15K - $20K
