BOARD MINUTES
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
March 11, 2015

Wayne Rexford called the meeting to order at 4:30 PM. Board Members present: Wayne Rexford, Pat Petrie & Roger Bennie. Staff present wasAbra Dodson, Kristen Seitz & Shauna Davis. There were no members of the public present.

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING:

The minutes were approvedfor the February Meeting as emailed.

TREASURER/STATE POOL REPORT:

Bennie presented the Treasurer/State Pool Report for the month of February. The bills totaled $17,689.23. Benniemoved to pay the bills and Petrie seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.

REPORTS:

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

-The Board looked at the Director’s Report for the months of January/February. See attached report for more information.

  • Jason Kinley, Director GCMAD, and Dodson went to the County Commissioners to go over the land maintenance plan to find out the problem with turf management. Ricki Wilson from 4-H extension will be taking soil samples.
  • The 23rd of March will be the opening day of starting up of all the equipment at the Swimming Pool. Classes will begin in May for Water Aerobics.
  • Everyone will start fresh as new hires for the swimming pool.
  • Swim team is still being looked at. At this point it has to become completely private or a GCRD program. Petrie asked if it would be like any other GCRD program? Davis went over what has happened with the swimteam.
  • Davis stated that they pay$70.00 per person. $25 for rental fee pass, t-shirt, swim cap, entry fees and rest coaches and saving for starting blocks.

The board asked questions about swim team. Dodson stated that the main difference will be the paying the Swim team coaches. During Swim Team we have to have a Certified Pool Operator at all times at the pool regardless of who runs the program. Bennie stated that we have everything in place so let’s go for it. Petrie made a motion that the Recreation District take over the swim team as a Recreation District program. Bennie seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.

RECREATION COORDINATOR’S REPORT

-The Board looked at the Recreation Coordinator’s Report for the months of January/February. See attached report for more information.

  • Rexford asked where we have the adult volleyball program. Dodson said we have it at Shadow Butte. Seitz stated that in May it will be at the Island.
  • Rexford asked what Kickball is. Dodson stated what Kickball is.

OLD BUSINESS:

There was no old business at this time.

NEW BUSINESS:

There was no new business at this meeting.

ITEMS FROM THE BOARD:

Petrie wanted to know if the Recreation District would want to help with a Cherry Drop for New Years. Dodson stated that she thinks the Recreation District could help with the Cherry Drop.

Rexford asked if the Commissioners are doing the coins for the 100th year. Dodson stated that at this time she was not sure. They will have a get together with Governor Otter on March 19th to celebrate the 100th Birthday.

Bennie moved to adjourn the meeting. Petrieseconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 5:08pm.
