Statement of Coherence
Showing linkage with examined units / Units 1 & 2 examine political ideologies and systems including authoritarianism, socialism and parliamentary democracy in European, American and British case studies. They explore the nature of change (revolutionary or gradual), causal factors and the rights of citizens.
Unit 4 draws on these themes to consider patterns across a longer period in a single nation.
Unit 3 adopts a broader geographical context, considering political ideology as a contributing factor in superpower relations

Students may select additional areas for investigation in Part A of the enquiry. It is anticipated that students will wish to attempt a linked Part A and B although they are not required to do so. Students may choose to focus on different areas of enquiry in Parts A and B e.g. they could select Part A from the factors listed in Example 1 and complete Part B using the question from Example 2.
