RULES GOVERNING TOURNAMENT

GENERAL

All golfers must register at the clubhouse before play. Junior golfers (10 and under) may play after 1 PM. and after 3 PM on weekends and holidays when accompanied by an adult player. Juniors over ten may play unaccompanied provided an adult attests that the junior knows the rules of safety and golf etiquette. Juniors with Red Tags may play unaccompanied anytime. Only dues-paying members and their families, for whom dues have been paid, are qualified to enter cup tournaments other than the Blanchard and Frost. Anyone else, upon payment of a tournament fee, may enter the Swatfests as a member’s guest.

In order to participate in any of the trophy contests sponsored by the Club, players must be members of GHIN, register in advance with the Clubhouse Attendant, and receive a properly stamped card. Scorecards for all contests must be signed, attested by a member, and dated. A player may apply his/her score for any given 9 or 18 hole round to only one contest at a time, including qualifying rounds.

MAJOR TOURNAMENTS

Entry sheets will be posted for both the Men's and Women's Handicap and Championship

Tournaments.

Each entrant must play a qualifying round for each tournament by the appointed deadline, but preferably on the qualifying day. The Rules of Golf as published by the USGA will govern play, pairings and the resolution of ties. Do not enter a tournament if you will not be available to complete each round by the prescribed date as established by the tournament committee. Failure to be available will result in forfeiture of the match.

A player's handicap for competition in the Men's and the Women's Handicap Tournaments (18 and 9 holes) will be his/her GHIN system handicap as posted on the clubhouse bulletin boards at the time the match is played. The number of strokes to be given and received in handicap competition will be 100% of the difference of the handicaps involved. If tie occurs, continue play, sudden death, with strokes applied hole by hole.

ELIGIBILITY AND PLAY

HANDICAPS

Each member is responsible for maintaining his or her score record. After each round of play (either 9 or 18 holes), members should post their adjusted scores through the USGA GHIN system. Your handicap index and course handicap will be calculated on 5 or more acceptable 18 hole scores using the handicap formula laid down in the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA. Previous years scores may be used in determining your most recent available scores.

If a player entering a handicap tournament does not have the required 5 scores, consult with the Handicap Chairman to obtain a proper handicap. No player will be allowed to enter a handicap tournament if he or she does not have a past or present handicap consistent with these rules.

The maximum course handicap for men is 36 and for women and juniors, 40. Juniors are 15 years of age and younger on April 1st.

SCOTCH TWOSOMES

One partner of a Scotch Twosome team must be a member of the Club. Team handicaps will be 50% of the combined posted handicaps in effect on the day of play of the two partners. Both Scotch Twosome team members will tee off, then select a preferred drive. Team members then will alternate shots until the ball is holed out.

DRESS AND DEPORTMENT STANDARDS

All players are considered to be ladies and gentlemen and are expected to conduct themselves accordingly. Club throwing will not be tolerated. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the course. Proper attire is required for the course: slacks; golf shorts; skirts; shirts, including collarless shirts with sleeves, designed to be outerwear and ladies sleeveless golf shirts. Shoes must be worn.

NOT PERMITTED ARE:swimwear; tennis length shorts or skirts; jogging shorts; tank tops; cell phones.

CART POLICY

Motorized carts may be used by members only. Medical necessity is the only criterion approved by the Board for their use. Cart usage regulations and all direction signs must be followed to minimize damage to the course. Their use may be prohibited in exceptionally wet conditions.
