Meet on the sidewalk close to the Dolphin Fountain on Aquarium Way
This tour provides a marvelous opportunity to learn more about the leadership role of the Port of Long Beach in improving the U.S. economy, the local environment, and the standard of living for all free people in the world. As you know, a mission of International Business is to “Make everyone’s life better and healthier.” International Business improves life for every person whose life is touched by International Trade. More than 15% of the United States FDP is generated by International Trade. Over 40% of all water-borne trade comes through the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Directions from CSULB to the Aquarium:
- Take Bellflower Boulevard south to Seventh Street
- Turn right onto Seventh Street and proceed to Alamitos Street (approximately 3 ½ miles).
- Turn left onto Alamitos. Alamitos crosses Ocean Blvd. and becomes Shoreline Drive.
- Take Shoreline Drive (approximately 1½ miles) to the fourth stoplight (Aquarium Way).
- Turn left onto Aquarium Way.
- Drive past the dolphin fountain.
- Turn right into the parking structure.
- Please bring your parking ticket to the boat to receive 3 hours of validated parking.
- We will try to meet on the sidewalk close to the dolphin fountain.
- We will walk (East) between the two fountains to Dock 2. The large boat we will take will be docked at Dock 2.
Please wear jeans or slacks, comfortable shoes/sneakers, layered clothing, and bring a jacket. It can get cool on the water if there is a wind.
You might want to wear sunglasses at the beginning of the tour.
Note: To satisfy the United States Coast Guard security requirements and for insurance purposes, the Port of Long Beach (POLB) must have a list of the names of all students, faculty, and/or staff who take the harbor tour. Please bring your CSULB ID with you and show it to Dr. MikeWalter prior to boarding the yacht. He will record the last four digits of your ID and can then provide the names to the Coast Guard and to the POLB.
A completed Liability Release form is required for any person who is not a CSULB employee.
As you know, a primary purpose of this harbor tour is to provide faculty with a unique learning experience that cannot be duplicated in any other University in the country.
