What is a Museum? Popular understanding of what the role of a Museum is, contains, and should do continues to evolve. We want your thoughts on what your Museum says to you. We have gathered 24 items – from medals to desks, bathers to ship rigging – that speak to stories, people, places and experiences in our community over time. But, what should the 25th story be? Students will engage in an interactive tour of these stories and objects and engage in critical thinking about different ways of interpreting and sharing historical information– a perfect tie-in to key inquiry questions. For example,
· What is my history and how do I know?
· How can stories of the past be told and shared?
· How has our community changed?
· What do we know about the lives of people in Australia’s colonial past and how do we know?
This exhibition shows the Museum from the inside-out. How do the people behind-the-scenes at the Museum build a show? How do you choose an object? What stories can that object tell? How do you choose a story and how do you choose to tell it (interpretation)?
It is time to face the 25th object, a hands-on workshop that encourages students to take on the role of curator, designer, and storyteller.

Bookings: Group bookings are essential. Bookings can be made via the Museum on tel: 5272 4701.
Cost: $4 per student entry to the Museum (accompanying teachers and supervisors are free).
Times: Allow at least 1 hour for a visit to the exhibition and the activity. Please allow extra time if you wish to see other exhibits in the Museum during your visit (at no extra charge).
