for a 3-Day Retriever Training Seminar

This dog training seminar will be for all age dogs at any skill level. We will be working advanced and beginner dogs in separate groups for four days. Mike will teach you and your dog the “Wildrose Way.”

The finished result will be a gentleman’s gundog, calm and steady to the shot.

What’s included

  1. 3 days of intense, no-force dog training with Mike Stewart of Wildrose (classroom and field work)
  1. Live fire drills, hunting situations
  1. Upland and waterfowl training (50/50)
  1. Daily lunch and all drinks
  1. All training bumpers, dummies, launchers (no need to bring your own)
  1. Round of sporting clays, BBQ and drinks w/ Mike Stewart at Gallatin Sporting Clays Friday or Saturday night—thanks Bill Hendricks! (BBQ, libations included)
  1. Family Q&A—bring the whole family for a fun night with Mike and Cathy Stewart (non-alcoholic drinks and snacks included)
  1. Bird dogs encouraged and welcome (we need some pointers, gentlemen)
  1. Wildrose lead, whistle and DVD—you must watch the DVD prior to coming to class and try to have the basics down pat in order to get more out of the class.(We are trying to avoid having to teach sit, stay, come and heel at the class. If you can follow the DVD, everyone will get more out of the class because of it. Concessions will be made for pups.)

Tentative Schedule of Events

Thursday June 18 – VIP dinner and drinks with Mike Stewart at local restaurant (TBA)

Friday June 19–Check in for class. This class is one day only. Check-in is at 8 a.m. sharp.Meet and greet with Mike Stewart. Classes and training until 5. Sporting Clays at 5:30 and BBQ/DU event. Food and alcohol provided. Prizes for best individual and team score awarded.

Saturday June 20th– All-day training for advanced and beginner dogs. Check-in is at 8 a.m. sharp. Lunch at noon.Wrap up at 5ish. Family Q&A to follow.

Sunday June 21st– Start at 8. All-day training until 4. Award ceremony until 5.

What you need to bring

  1. Your dog and a kennel
  2. English lead (will be provided)
  3. Whistle (will be provided)
  4. Sunscreen
  5. Rain gear
  6. Breathable clothing in case it’s hot
  7. Comfortable shoes/boots (we are on our feet a lot)
  8. Comfortable lawn chair
  9. Notebooks/pens/paper
  10. Bug spray
  11. Shotgun/shells/shell belt for clays
  12. Your family for QA night!

The undersigned hereby acknowledges that he/she knowingly and willingly engages in the 2009 Wildrose Kennel, Inc., Training Sessions with the complete understanding of potential risk or personal injury and/or property damage associated with training with/in the training sessions.

I further understand and acknowledge the dangers involved with the training sessions including, but not limited to, exposure to firearms, ammunition, dogs, and working in and around, but not limited to, water sources, barbed wire, equipment, and I accept personal responsibility for my own well being and the well being of my dog(s)

I agree to release from liability and hold harmless the principals conducting these training sessions, including (1) Wildrose Kennels, (2) Ducks Unlimited, (3) Jason Baker, (4) Pat Busby, (5) John Van Dyke, (6) Gallatin Sporting Clays, and attach no responsibilities to such parties for myself or damage to my property, including, but not limited to, my dog(s).
