According to WHO (World Health Organization), 1.2 million people died from alcohol especially driving while intoxicated (DWI) which means drinking and driving. On that account, come governments execute strategies of reducing DWI such as the United States of America, Korea, New Zealand, the U.K, and some other countries. The Korean and the U.S. government especially enforce a strict law against DWI. However, people continuously violate the laws by drinking while driving. On the other hand, the government is trying to stop this huge problem. This academic essay explains the cause and effect of Korea’s and the U.S.A’s policies against drunk driving the effective they are to discourage the rate of drinking and driving and improve the economic effect.

The reason why these countries have been implementing the policy of stopping DWI has diverse causes because the many people died from DUI. In reality, which happened in the U.S.A, people died from vehicular accidents in 2006. Unfortunately, 41% of Americans die from drunk driving. This data shows, a significant number of people die from drunk driving. In addition, the Korean Nation Police Agency (KNPA) demonstrates that 11% of vehicular accidents are due to drunk driving. Therefore, the KNPA is detaining the drunken drivers. They claimed to make a strict policy of DWI. In Korea also many people also died in drinking and driving. Thereupon, the U.S. and Korean government are going to make a serious policy and law to be enforced. To decrease the DWI rate, they exert effort in finding a political measure that will result in fines or imprisonment. Hence, they can reduce the DWI in their countries.

The U.S. government enforced about the DWI policy, which results to an, they was a drastic decline of the DUI rate as well as filling a people into prison. The journalist, who name is Wald, was mentioned that the U.S. government has been executing the arrest and punishments of drunk driver for a decade. As a consequence, this policy was reducing the rate of DUI from twenty thousand people to thirteen thousand people in 20 Years. This means that the U.S. government was executing a law which puts pressure to drunk drivers in 2006. For this reason, the government was depleting the seven thousand people a 35 percent reduction. Besides, the U.S. government claims the other policy. The U.S.A was enforced other a political measure that was the treatment and conviction of the drunk driver. Therefore, this policy was reducing the 40% of DWI in the New York City (We can’t stop). The article said that for New York’s figures, are arresting the drunk drivers who were over the alcohol level 16 or more. Furthermore, the courts which are located in New York City decided a judgment of conviction to the drunk drivers. Hence, the DUI rates were in diminution of 40 percent in New York State, so then, this policy were militated about dropping that rate. Once more, the America executed the campaign which name was social marketing. Magdalena said that the campaign’s purpose is preventing the DUI, and also, they survey about the effective communication method of reducing the DUI’s rate. This sentence described that the one of policy, which name was social marketing, this policy did commit to prison who violate the DUI policy. Therefore, the drunk drivers were committed to jail. Thereupon, that policy was improved the social marketing, also, they can restrict the DUI.

Interestingly, the Korea government policy is improving their country of economic. Nevertheless, the result was not as effective as the U.S.A. Generally, if drunk drivers are caught by the police their driver’s license must be cancelled immediately. KNPA mentioned that the government is going to fix the punishment for criminals depending on the level of blood alcohol concentration also criminal fines or jail terms were imposed different amounts. This policy means the Korea National Police Agency was imposing the penalty to drunk drivers. In addition, they imposed punishment differently depending on alcohol concentration. This the Korean policy leads to the decrease of the DUI rate. However, that policy did not achieve successful outcome. The policy was not effective that DUI rate reduction. That policy just reduced the DUI rate because the Korean criminals, who commit drinking while driving violation, they just paid a fine and crime again. Therefore, this policy was not effective to curtail the DUI rate. Moreover, the Meece said that the Korea government makes a policy, which was chauffeur service, and it is prevent the DUI, furthermore, it helps to development of Korean economic system. If the chauffeur service more increases the economic also more enhances. Likewise, this policy also make a lot of occupation which means if the drunk person afraid about the strict policy they are using the chauffeur service, subsequently, the many people can obtain employment. So then, this policy help to promote the Korean economy. Finally, this policy reduces the repeated DUI by 12% and increase DUI abidance duration by 5.7% than the latter.

To sum up, the two countries used policies of DUI. In addition, they also argued the effects of DUI policy by each country. The U.S policy was reducing a number of people. On the contrary, the Korea policy did not have the same result with U.S. policy. Korea and U.S.A government were strict toward drunken drivers. Both Korea and the U.S.A always try to reduce the DWI with several methods resulting to, both countries curtailing the rate of DUI.
