TITLE: Game Development Design and Evaluation
ABSTRACT
This presentation describes an evaluation strategy developed to support the design of role-playing games. Surveys and observational data on student interaction, engagement, and technical problems gathered during the course of testing can be used to access the student perspective on serious games. Using audio logs and internal tracking of position and time of the game player, a student’s progress through the game space can also be recorded. In addition to individual audio tracks, classroom discussions can be taped with a digital camcorder. This approach can enabled the analysis of a student’s movement through the virtual space of a game. An objective of this work is to present an approach to the creation of a serious games that relies on an iterative design process.
