Future residents of MIRADOR celebrate progress of new community

Corpus Christi, texas, Nov. 24, 2008: Soon-to-be residents of Mirador gathered at Corpus Christi Town Club for an evening to celebrate the progress of the area’s first and only life care community, hear from principals involved in its development, and visit with future neighbors. Charles Brewer, CEO and president of Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), parent company of Mirador, spoke to guests about the future community, plans for groundbreaking, and the peace of mind retirees will enjoy as life care residents of Mirador. Other guest speakers included Tony Snyder, regional manager of marketing services at Greystone Communities; Ross Dickmann, executive director of SQLC sister community Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin; and Burt Derr, corporate vice president of development services at Greystone Communities.

“More than ever, seniors desire to fully enjoy an active and independent retirement lifestyle,” said Brewer. “That’s why SQLC designs each of its life care communities to meet every need of its residents. Our residents are freed from the time-consuming maintenance of a house and yard, offered countless educational, cultural and social opportunities, and ensured the highest quality of health services onsite, should they ever be needed.”

Margaret Hare, ambassador of SQLC sister community The Buckingham in Houston, and Don Iburg, ambassador of Querencia at Barton Creek, also spoke to future residents about the positive impact living at an SQLC community has made on their lives.

Hare, a former lawyer, travels to all developing SQLC communities to talk with seniors and their adult children about her experience of moving into The Buckingham. “It was very important to me that I made decisions about my retirement for myself. I did not want my children placed in a position to make life-changing decisions for me,” said Hare. “My only regret is that I didn’t do it five years sooner. It is the perfect retirement lifestyle.”
