We are all called to serve others. This booklet describes the St. Ann Ministries that reach out to those in crisis, as well as some guidelines toguidelines to other support groups in the community.

Saint Ann Ministries
Christmas
Magi Ministree helps the less fortunate at Christmas by providing gifts through the generous donations of the parish. Recipients are selected through Catholic Charities and St. Ann.

Consolation
MOC Ministry of Consolation offers support in the form of Listening, Presence and Prayer for faith community members who are suffering from all kinds of life’s losses. Trained members of the parish help those who are grieving the death of a family member or friend. Volunteers from this ministry will also assist in planning the vigil and funeral for the deceased.

Saint Ann Ministries
MOC Monthly Grief Supportoffers support to those who are experiencing the natural process of grieving the loss of a loved one, job, home, health or marriage. The group provides support in each of these areas in an atmosphere of care and understanding.

MOC Grief Support for Teens offers support for teens who are grieving. One on one support is provided for teens in need.

MOC New Day Support Group offers support to those saddened by the recent death of a loved one. The Ministry uses the New Day eight step process to help those coping with the loss of a loved one.

MOC Prenatal Death Support provides support for those who have suffered a prenatal death (stillborn or miscarriage)

MOC Divorced and/or Separated Grief Support offers support for those who have been divorced and/or separated. In a group setting, the sessions help with the many different feelings experienced.

Good Samaritans primarily assist parishioners by serving and providing food for funeral receptions. Meals are also provided on basis to parishioners with temporary needs such as injury, illness, childbirth and death of family members.

Saint Ann Ministries
Disabled
Ministry of the Disabled and Their Caregivers assists parishioners with special needs/disabilities and their caregivers. Areas supported include: moral and emotional support, inclusion in liturgical functions, parish organizations, social and recreational activities, and inclusion for children with special needs in religious education. Parents’ Day Out (babysitting) is held monthly for children with special needs and their siblings. Medical equipment loan program provides free gently used walkers, wheelchairs, canes and more for short- or long-term use.

Ministry to the Sick & Homebound brings Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist to confirmed Catholics in good standing who are members of the parish and are homebound or unable to attend Mass because of illness, hospitalization, or who are otherwise incapacitated. Saint Ann Ministries
FINANCIAL
Faith and Finance Ministry helps participants manage their finances using biblical principles and the Catholic Faith. This is a ten-week small group series.

Parish Emergency Assistance Committee provides emergency financial assistance for parishioners who have been registered members of the parish for a minimum of six months. The business administrator of the parish is the contact for referral to that committee.

Prayer Shawl Ministry produces prayer shawls that will be given away to help spread the message of God’s mercy, love and compassion. Shawls can be requested for various reasons such as grief or illness, but they may also be given away to mark happy occasions such as births, baptisms or marriage.

Employment Program
The Metrocrest Social Services employment program assists individuals with one or more of the following:
Individual job counseling
Employment skills training
Use of Internet/phone/fax and resume building software
Provide gas/bus vouchers, clothing, and haircuts.
Provide limited skill training/education (i.e. Internet job search)

School supplies: Each year MSS collects new school supplies for area children who cannot afford them and new backpack or the supplies needed to start the school year off right.
In addition to new school supplies, Metrocrest Social Services, along with sponsoring churches and corporations, provide a brand new pair of shoes and socks to local school-age children. For six Saturdays, Payless Shoe Source in Carrollton opens its doors early just for Metrocrest clients. Volunteers from the sponsoring churches and corporations make sure that each child is fitted with a new pair of shoes.

Back-to-School Programprovides each qualifying student with two new outfits, a pair of shoes, backpack and grade-specific school supplies prior to the beginning of each school year.
Christmas Toy Storeensures that Santa will visit CCA children with the perfect gift. Families are identified through Family Assistance caseworkers. For more information, contact
Kids Eat FreeDuring the school year, low-income families frequently rely on the USDA free- and reduced-school lunch program. The Kids Eat Free program provides lunch to children during the summer when many do not have lunch and are left to fend for themselves while their parents work. CCA coordinates volunteer groups from churches and other organizations to prepare and deliver more than 76,000 lunches and 9,000 children’s bookstore locations identified by CCA. Approximately 1,500 children receive a sandwich, drink, chips, a cookie and fruit daily.
Senior Christmasprovides holiday wishes to elderly adults. Individuals and companies purchase Christmas gifts from a wish list

GRACE

Emergency Assistance: This program provides food, clothing, toiletries, household goods, furniture, financial assistance, and information/referrals to those in need. Monthly supplemental food is offered for seniors and the disabled.
Outreach to Health is a comprehensive program that provides a holistic approach to health care for families who do not have access to traditional medical care. A dedicated staff of volunteer physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers operate the clinic each Tuesday night. The clinic provides the following services: routine office visits and health screenings, medications, specialistreferrals, diagnostic testing and lab services, dietary consultations, and general health education. As appropriate, patients are referred to TarrantCounty’s John Peter Smith Health Network.
Transitional HousingProgram allows individuals and families the stability and comfort of their own apartment for up to two years while they work toward independence. Housing clients participate in intensive case management while pursuing educational, career, financial, and personal development goals during their stay. All program activities are aimed at

Seasonal Programs
Feed Our Kids calls upon local churches to prepare and serve lunches to children in local apartment complexes throughout the summer. This bridges the gap for children who normally receive free or reduced lunch at school.
Back to School Supply Driveprovides new backpacks and school supplies to GRACE clients at the beginning of each new school year.
Holiday Food Distributionassures that all area households are able to serve Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to their families. Food baskets include everything needed to prepare a home-cooked holiday meal.
Christmas Cottageallows parents to choose gifts for their children at Christmas time. Clients are given vouchers to shop in a store-like setting filled with new donated items and toys.
Resale GRACE operates a successful resale program which funds a large portion of the annual budget.

Members of the society call on clients’ homes to ascertain their needs, and then network with various charities to assure proper help.
