Introduction
This is a clearance sale, in other words, we would like these items to GO! That is what the "o.n.c.o." stands for - "or nearest cash offer". So if you wish to make an offer for an item, do so! You just might be lucky and get a bargain if your offer is accepted!
All gliders will be checked before delivery. All reserves will be repacked.
NOTE 1: No glider will be sold (by me) to a pilot who does not have the experience for that specific glider rating. It is a safety issue!
NOTE 2:Packaging and Postage are excluded on all items, including the items that are free of charge.
Remember:All-up weight (pilot plus full kit including the glider's weight) must fit into the weight range for the glider. Therefore the pilot should add approx 20kg to his personal weight in order to ensure that the glider's weight range is suitable for him. The heavier people should add 25kg, unless they are buying very lightweight harnesses (such as the backpack/harness-combined versions). The optimal all-up weight falls at halfway to two-thirds of the weight range, although a glider is rated for the full weight range.
Why buy used?
Buying used equipment when starting a flying career can save a lot of money. If one is on a tight budget, then doing this is very worthwhile. Very often the deal includes most of the extras that one would require, at a very reasonable price. Even if the glider is older, it will provide good flying experience until it is time to replace it with either another used wing, or a new one. As long as it has the correct rating, the new pilot should have no problems with flying an older model wing.
There are many good used higher performance gliders that one can upgrade to when the time is right. The latest and greatest more expensive gliders are not always an option for those who have rather flat wallets. These older gliders will help build on the experience level, provide many hours of happy flying, and keep the pilot in seventh heaven. There is always a chance that the financial situation can improve at a later stage, allowing the pilot to purchase a brand new wing!
Traps to avoid
1.If there is not enough money to warrant new kit, do not buy new kit. Do not be sweet talked into brandnew kit (yes, it is beautiful and desirable, and will have better performance) if you cannot really afford it at this point. Paragliders are not investments, and if the pilot is forced to sell, he will not get his money back.
2.Do not think that buying an higher rated glider before having the right experience level will save money at a later stage. It is a double-edged sword. The reason for the requirement is that the new pilot needs to gain experience while flying in all conditions, including rougher air, on a glider that is suitable for his experience level, and that will not create problems for him (i.e. bite him). If he buys higher rated, then he usually avoids stronger thermal conditions as he knows that he does not have the experience to deal with the glider in those conditions. Hence he learns nothing except how to handle the glider in good conditions. When he reaches the correct flight level he will venture into more demanding conditions, but what does he really know? The pilot often ends up in hospital in those situations.
3.Do not let pride and perceived peer pressure override commonsense. Some people can afford to buy new kit, most of us cannot. What is more important is how well the pilot flies, whether it is on a used kit or a new glider. A good pilot can achieve good airtime on any glider, regardless of the model.
Very important: Good skill levels are worth more than the latest model glider, and one can obtain those skill levels on good condition older model gliders.
