Background Information

KEMP House Trust was founded in 1980. During 1987 volunteers began working in the community with the charity also funding, at this time, its first Community Macmillan Nurse. We first opened our building for Day Care in 1992 with our first day hospice site following in 1994.

In 2003 we purchased our existing Hospice site from which we offer the following services to the people of the Wyre Forest:

Job Description

Job Title: Fundraising Manager (Head of Fundraising Designate)

Reports to: Chief Executive

Location: KEMP Hospice. Mason Road, Kidderminster, DY11 6AG

Hours: 37.5 per week

Duration: Permanent

Purpose of the post:

To lead the development of KEMP Hospice fundraising programmes, specifically, trusts, corporate partnerships, major donors, community, donor development, legacies and events.

To work closely with Senior Management Team colleagues and Volunteer Coordinator to support our future growth and development developing a clear strategy to provide sustainable income streams for KEMP.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Staff Management – to lead, motivate, support and develop our fundraising team including the review and management of their performance.

To directly line manage four existing members of the team – Community Fundraiser, Event Fundraiser, Fundraising Assistant and Media Assistant along with our Fundraising Ambassadors and other Volunteers.

Fundraising Development – to develop, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, a three year strategic fundraising plan and resultant annual business plans and budgets. To develop and implement new fundraising programmes and further develop existing programmes giving particular attention to Trusts, Corporate Partnerships and legacies.

Manage team budgets ensuring achievement of the financial targets for gross income and agreed expenditure.

Produce monthly income and expenditure variance reports with the Finance Manager implementing remedial actions if required.

Produce quarterly reports for Trustees attending their meetings when requested.

Keep up to date on developments in fundraising and the activities of other charitable organisations, identify market gaps and new opportunities ensuring that we further develop our position.

Work closely with fundraisers and our PR provider contributing to an ongoing programme of newsworthy fundraising activities that translate into media opportunities maintaining and raising the profile of the KEMP, locally and regionally.

Proactively work with our Head of Care and Retail Manager to further develop opportunities for income growth.

Network outside of KEMP to raise our profile and promote our work building new contacts and developing opportunities.

Be aware of and maintain contact with other hospices within the region.

Ensure all fundraising materials are produced within our corporate identity.

Keep up to date with changes in the legal and regulatory external environment and its impact upon fundraising ensuring that the Chief Executive is informed in a timely manner and that the Department has the necessary, up to date, policies and procedures in place to follow best practice and health and safety requirements.

General – Play a key role in planning and developing KEMP’s fundraising multi-media activities.

Support members of the fundraising team to ensure all fundraising initiatives are coordinated as a part of the department’s objectives and overall strategy and donor relationsip opportunities are maximised.

Take on new projects as appropriate and as identified in the strategic plan.

Follow all KEMP policies and procedures.

Contribute and play a leading part in departmental meetings.

Adhere to the institute of Fundraising’s Code of Practice, Charities Act and other associated legislation and policy.
