1. Key purpose

In the Fundraising role you will work with the Director Business Development and other team members to promote, coordinate and manage specific events and identify new opportunities for fundraising.

Responsible for planning and implementing nominated Relay For Life (RFL) events and Fundraising activities. This includes RFL team recruitment and retention, committee and team liaison, event logistics and administrative tasks associated with Relay For Life.

Undertake duties and tasks relating to event organisation to maximise income.

The role reports to theDirectorBusiness Development.

2. About the role

Position title:Fundraising and Relay For Life Project Officer

Department:Business Development

Status:Full time for 12 month contract period

Hours of Work:76 hours per fortnight

Location:Hobart

Reports to:Director of Business Development

InRelay For Life role, the primary responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and implement team and participant recruitment and retention strategies
  • provide appropriate organisational and administrative support to the Organising Committee Chairperson and committee members and the Director Business Development
  • identify opportunities to streamline expenses and maximise revenue within the Relay For Life program in consultation with the Director Business Development and the committee
  • develop and implement appropriate liaison strategies to maintain a strong relationship with the committee, teams, corporate partners and the community
  • manage nominated Relay For Life events including event logistics, financial control, event reporting and post-event analysis

In the Fundraising role you will:

  • work with other program areas of Cancer Council Tasmania to maximise opportunities for mission delivery through events and cross program promotion
  • work with Director, team members, staff and community members to develop, support and run successful events for income generation
  • plan, organise and supervise work for staff and volunteers as appropriate.

Please note:Regular weekend and evening work will be involved with allowance
for time off in lieu.

3. Selection criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising or event management.
  • Demonstrated high standard of organisational and communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of budgetary principles.
  • High level Microsoft Office Skills.
  • High degree of adaptability and flexibility to workplace demands, including the ability to work out of hours as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver’s licence

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Benchmarking against Cancer Council Australia national standards
  • Increased revenue in RFL and other fundraising events
  • Sustainable committee membership, attraction, recruitment and retention
  • Acquire new teams and participants
  • Team and participant satisfaction
  • Quality of events, products and service.

4. Conditions of employment

Fundraising and Relay For Life Project Officer

Award/Contract:Cancer Council Tasmania Employee Collective Agreement 2007. (currently under review)

Remuneration:

Base salary $49,677

Superannuation$4,719

Leave loading$668

Total$55,064

Cancer Council Tasmania employees are able to salary sacrifice to full value as allowed by the Australian Taxation Office to Not for Profit entities.

Salary is payable fortnightly.

Leave Entitlements: Four weeks per annum (pro rata).

Hours of Work: This is a 76 hours a fortnightfull time position for a twelve month contract period.

Health and Fitness: CCT does not insist on employees undergoing apre-employment medical examination, however it is a condition of employment that in accepting this position you are able to perform the inherent requirements of the position.

Probation Period: The appointment to this position is subject to aprobationary period of three months.

Cancer Council Tasmania uses a merit selection process which means it selects preferred candidates for positions based on their demonstration of the skills, abilities and attributes to meet the requirements of the position.

This is demonstrated through application, interview, practical exercises and referee checks. Candidates are short-listed from the original pool of applicants.

The Selection Panel will then interview the short-listed candidates and determine the preferred candidate after referee checks.
