FRoCGs Newsletter - November 2015
Welcome to the second newsletter from the Friends of Cale Green School, or as we are more affectionately called, FRoCGs. Now that the children have settled into the new school year, we’d like to tell you about fund raising targets for the year so far, some upcoming events, and of course, encourage you to come along to a FRoCGs gathering!
Fund Raising Targets
Money raised by FRoCGs is used to benefit all our children at Cale Green School. Most of this goestowards improving their school environment, playground, our allotment, resources and equipment. A small proportion goes towards supporting the ‘Active Citizens’ campaigns. Our School Council, Eco-Council, Chair of Governors and Learning Mentor, Maggie Eyre have together come up with some wonderful ideas of how to spendthe money - but we also welcome ideas from parents, grandparents, carers and staff too!
After much discussion we have decide that, with your support, we would like to fund raise for the two projects listed below:
'Wishes for my World' – Photographic Project
Target £1000
In 2011 photographic artist Paul Cliff worked with the children in school to produce the beautiful portrait photographs you may have noticed around the building. This project was part of a wide ranging project carried out throughout the North West under the banner of ‘Wishes for my World’. We quickly recognized the powerof this medium for children’svoices to be heard. The School Council and staff would like to repeat the project to celebrate the wonderful children in our school and once again offer the opportunity for their voices to be heard.
The Hall Piano
Target £200
The poor piano is looking rather shabby and sorry for itself amidst the newly refurbished school hall. The piano is a prominent feature in the hall and a key part of assemblies. Mrs. Lewis has requested a ‘make over’ and service so that it looks and sounds as good as its surroundings. She is also looking into the cost of a second hand electric piano.

Who are FRoCGs?
Put simply, if you’ve received this Newsletter we’d like to think you are a Friend of Cale Green School. Parent, grandparent, carer, neighbour or friend, in fact anyone connected to a current or ex-pupil at our school is welcome as a FRoCGs.
School encourageFRoCGs to meet in the hall after Family Assembly on Fridays, from around 10am to 11am,primarily for a ‘cuppa’ and social chat but also to exchange ideas and occasionally organise fundraising events. Everyone is welcome to drop in and if you have little ones, we have toys, games, books and space in the hall for them to enjoy themselves too!
If you can’t join us on Friday mornings, please don’t be discouraged.
If you are able to support us in any way, please let us know. Perhaps you might be able to bake cakes for a cake sale, help out during an event or donate goods to raffle. Also, feel free to share your ideas for raising money or suggest a target for funds raised.
