Fund Raising and Marketing Committee meeting 06/06/2012

Meeting started at 7.10pm
- Minutes of last meeting – Agreed but following points were raised

- Fund Raising Events
- Racing Nights -The Inner Wheel Race Night has been cancelled. Simon to write to schools and village halls to promote the Race Nights. It was agreed that we need to increase the fund raising funds by getting more people involved from outside the club. It was felt that this is a winter event and we need to put a programme together to organise such events.
- Ferret Racing - David Pattinson spoke to John Miller and it was agreed that he could let us use a barn to hold the event spring/early summer. A provisionally date has been booked for Saturday 18 May 2013. David or Ivor to speak to John to confirm that the barn will be available on this date. Simon gave LC a card which he picked up at Newark Show from Ashfield Ferret Club. LC to put costs together. It was discussed that all the ferret races should be sponsored apart from the last one and this should be auctioned to raise more money.
- Collingham Lunch - This has now been booked and everything is in order. A board will be sent round at the meeting on Monday asking for help to fetch tables and chairs and to help erected the marquees. The ladies will be asked to do salads and sweets. It was agreed that more bar-b-q's would be needed as all the food will be cooked on the bar-b-q's. Bob has suggested putting the price up next year. £20.00 was suggested and it was felt that this was a fair price compared to other local events held.
- Palace Theatre - Ivor still waiting to here if it will be possible to hire the palace and put on a film to raise money.
- "An Audience with ....." This has not been taken any further. Ken Clark, Charlie Carr and Nigel Chapman have all been suggested as speakers. LC to find out about costs.
- Flintham show - this will be held at Hawton on Roger Pykett's land on Thursday 27 September. LC suggested that we might be able to do a collection at the end of the day when cars were leaving. LC spoke to Roger and he did not agree to this. It was agreed that we would have a stand at the show in partnership with Castle where we would run a tombola (bottles), Ivor to check that we do not need a license to sell tickets for alcohol and a lucky dip for the children.
- Skittles - the skittles will not take place this year but has been booked for the 28 June 2013.
- Mulled Wine - Mike Wright to organise again this year.
- Waitrose and ASDA - David Shannon to approach Waitrose again. A discussion took place as to whether it was worthwhile collecting at ASDA. In general it was felt that it wasn't but it was another fund raising avenue - no final decision was made.
- Santa Clause Walk - Ivor suggested having a walk similar to the one Lincoln run. The committee thought that this was a good idea and it was suggested that we should do this with Castle. However it was suggested that the Newark Club should be able to run event. Ivor to speak to Peter Heard about the walk as he came from a Lincoln club.
- AOB
- Ivor said that we had nothing booked for January, February and March. It was agreed that the race night and an audience with... should take place during the winter months.
- Murder Mystery night - Peter Hall suggested a murder mystery night with members of the Robin Hood Theatre. Itwas suggested that this could be held at the Rugby Club. Peter Hall to get costs from the Robin Hood Theatre and the rugby club.
Peter Hall also expressed that he was pleased to be back on a committee with regular meetings.
Next meeting to be held on Thursday 16 August at 7pm at Ivor's house
