JOB DESCRIPTION

Post:Para-Teacher

Responsible to:Vice Principal

Reporting Lines:

This position will report to Vice Principal.

Responsibilities:

•To work in parallel with teachers in the planning, support and delivery of learning experiences in the Academy.

•To work as directed within subject areas developing expertise in a key part of the curriculum. This work may include one-to-one support, delivering planned lessons, planning interventions, mentoring and working flexibly to ensure that all students meet the high expectations we have of them.

•To provide support and guidance to students and staff by removing the barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, ensure students achieve all that they can and have high aspirations.

•To promote, develop and maintain effective and supportive relationships with students in support of other teaching and learning professionals and external agencies.

•To mark students work in accordance with Academy policies and Senior Leadership Team instructions.

•To Input data to support Academy policies in Assessment, Recording and Reporting.

•To compile appropriate lesson activities/resources in liaison with other teachers, Lead Practitioners and Senior Leadership Team.

•To work on continually improving the quality of teaching and learning through participating in programmes of support, participating in appropriate professional development as provided by the Academy or external providers and participating in performance management.

•To ensure that students make good progress and achieve well by ensuring that the individual needs of students are well catered for.

•To assist in ensuring the level of challenge set for students is realistic and students are productive.

•To promote positive activities within the Academy and community setting and support learning, participation and social inclusion.

•To be proactive in Academy life including leading extra-curricular activities, clubs, trips and duties.

•High levels of motivation and a positive approach to the Academy’s goals.

•Educated to a high level, holding an Honours Degree – Graduate or an equivalent qualification.

•Experience working with children/young people and an enjoyment and liking for students, people, schools and learning.

•Confidence, the ability to be assertive and able to thrive in a challenging environment.

•The ability to promote a positive ethos in all communications with Academy stakeholders.

•Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

•A flexible approach towards work and working hours.
