Work Experience

Jan 2002 – currentRemington College and Colorado Technical University

Adjunct instructor teaching mathematics, computer fundamentals, networking and programming, physics, chemistry, microcontrollers, and digital design at all levels of curriculum. Responsibilities included preparing lesson plans, teaching class, grading, and tutoring.

Additional work assignments included development and presentation of “Introductory Linux” seminar, including overview of unix networking and system programming. Participants received modified “Remington College” live CD.

Additional work assignment included design, development, testing, and implementation of on-line student survey, including proposals for new Linux-based server, security management, and administrative tasks for the system.

Apr 2000 – Mar 2001AGCS Communications, Inc.

Installed and certified Lucent "Pathstar" voice-over-IP telephone switches. Responsibilities included configuring operating system (Lucent Unix-clone), and coordinating trunk turn-up and testing with Bell-South. Developed Linux-based configuration tools to simplify remote configuration.

Engineered mapping between switched for AT&T Wireless networking, replacing Ericsson switches with Lucent switches. Responsibilities included allocating and routing communications links between new installation switches, as well as connections to switches being removed, providing 0-down-time on all circuits.

Jan 1999 – Apr 2000Alltel Information Services, Inc.

Enhancement development for Work Force Management (WFM). Designed, developed, tested, and implemented 4GL/'C' programs interfacing user interface and Informix database. Additional enhancements written for NetExpert ruleset testing telephone line balanced resistance tests.

Developed test procedures for NetExpert network status monitoring system. Took over team lead role after three months.

Wrote database conversion programs translating Microsoft Excel database to AS/400-based database.

June 1998 – August 1998 Ajilon, Inc,

Contracted to Crosslink, Inc developing device drivers for MIL-STD-1553 in the QNX operating system to support space shuttle downlink operations. Optimized code to transmit data if ground station was in range, or buffer data until ground station was in range.

Sep 1997 – May 1998STA, Inc.

Contracted to Digital Equipment Corporation testing computer system self-diagnosis and troubleshooting software, integrated with operating system for Windows NT, Unix, and VAX/VMS. Transferred from testing to development in December, 1997, programming in 'C' and C++ programming languages.

May 1997 – Oct 1997Spectranetics, Inc.

Upgraded excimer laser system for medical use by debugging, re-coding, and testing problems as well as several new features for the next generation of medical laser. Work included embedded system, control system software using Intel's 8096 family. Additional responsibilities included Validation and Verification Tests and documentation for Food and Drug Administration.

Apr 1996 – Nov 1996Comsys, Inc.

Contracted to MCI programming advanced C++ on Unix and VAX VMS operating systems, developing long distance and overseas call routing strategies. Developed routing strategy including artificial intelligence and X-Windows status display for user interface.

Dec 1994 – Apr 1996Westphal Insurance Agency

Licensed as insurance agent for Property/Casualty insurance. Responsibilities included reception and account management as well as driver research for policy approval. Additional responsibilities included designing and populating client database.

May 1993 – Nov 1993 Kaman Sciences

Debugged and repaired failures in operating system for Air Force missile launch detection system and Space Defense Operation Center (SPADOC). Programs written in ForTran and 360 Assembly Language. Support programs written in 'C' for algorithm verification. Additional responsibilities included researching communication failures between SPADOC and neighboring systems.

Sep 1992 – Nov 1992Computer Science Corporation

Wrote and edited technical documentation for missile launch detection communication equipment. Designed, developed, and tested Man-Machine Interface (MMI) for network connection equipment.

Jan 1991 – Jun 1992Softronics, Inc.

Wrote telecommunication software in 'C' for Softerm for Windows 3.x. Additional responsibilities included team lead for a group of developers writing terminal emulation software for various serial terminals.

Designed, developed, prototyped, tested and implemented "KeyLights," player-piano-like display connected to electronic instruments using Musical Instrument Device Interface (MIDI). Responsibilities included Intel 8051 Assembly Language, hardware, and U.S. Copyright paperwork.
