Full-time Executive Director

The Staunton Creative Community Fund, Inc. (SCCF) is a dynamic nonprofit community development organization that brings vitality and innovation to the Shenandoah Valley by supporting, funding, and inspiring local entrepreneurs. As an organization, our purpose is to create the neighborhoods in which people actually want to live by helping entrepreneurs cultivate their dreams of owning or expanding a small business.

SCCF’s programs include lending to start-up and expanding small businesses, community and entrepreneur networking events, educational programming, business and nonprofit consulting, as well as a diverse and evolving array of economic development initiatives. SCCF also specializes in working with targeted industries, arts and cultural organizations, and businesses locating in downtown or revitalizing districts.

SCCF is seeking a full-time Executive Director who is passionate about the organization’s mission and who exemplifies the type of entrepreneurial spirit SCCF works to cultivate in its clients and community. Strong partnership, leadership, communication, and fundraising skills are required. Experience in community development, small business lending, business training and education, and related fields is sought. A successful applicant will be a strong manager, an innovative leader, and able to connect with a diverse range of stakeholder groups as part of his or her community development role. The Executive Director provides organizational leadership and is responsible for implementing the policy directives of the Board of Directors. Primary responsibilities include:

●Implement the policy directives of the Board of Directors, provide organizational leadership in strategic planning efforts, annual and quarterly budget preparation, and maintain day-to-day management of all Fund activities and initiatives.

●Lead all organizational fundraising efforts, including grant writing, grant reporting, program-related income, private investments, and donations.

●Manage small business development and recruitment efforts, which integrates microloan financing, business consulting, training and education, nonprofit incubation, direct incentives, and other programs as developed.

●Identify, recommend, and pursue new opportunities and/or programs that complement and enhance the mission of the organization.

●Serve as the public face of SCCF, and lead SCCF’s marketing, outreach, and recruitment activities.

●Oversee all other SCCF employees and consultants. Manage the staffing structure of the organization to be sustainable and nimble across a diversity of funding sources.

SCCF is looking for a highly organized person with attention to detail who is a creative problem solver. Integrity, reliability, and the ability to work independently are also essential for this role.

Experience with grant writing, MS office products, Google apps, and social media is a must. Experience with Salesforce and a working knowledge of investing principles preferred.

Experience in program management, staff management and coordinating organizational teamwork.

Demonstrated capacity to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including government entities, nonprofits, businesses, lenders and the general public. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with boards of directors, councils and/or commissions, and the public.
