POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Job Developer 2is under the general supervision of the OhioMeansJobs Clark County Deputy Director and will serve as the “Career Navigator” for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant Program administered by Clark State Community College. The Career Navigator is responsible for recruiting, advising and offering career guidance to prospective students who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing, and leading small group activities for unemployed, underemployed,veterans, Training Reemployment Assistance Dislocated Employees (TRADE), and high school seniors. A primary focus of this position is to work with regional OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Centers to actively recruit prospective students for this project. This is a grant-funded position. The initial grant period is three years.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of undergraduate degree with major core coursework in business management,human resource management, psychology, behavioral science or social science or education; or completion of two years of technical education in behavioral science or social scienceorother documented education, training or equivalent experience basedon the position description. Project management experience and report writing are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Familiarity with operations of Workforce Development or Human Resourceprograms
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a variety of management information systems and computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and provide appropriate recommendations
  • Highly skilled and experienced in communicating effectively in writing and orally with diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse tasks
  • Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the college community and the public
  • Must be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit and work with prospective students who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing
  • Partner with regional OMJ Centers to recruit potential students for this project
  • Meet with Clark State academic advisors and administrative staff as needed
  • Meet with employed students (primarily adults) enrolled in the Manufacturing program for retention support regularly scheduled times
  • Conduct pre-enrollment assessments and refer for remediation as needed
  • Collaborate with the OMJ Business Service Team and the Clark State Internship/CO-OP Coordinator for job placement upon completion of the program
  • Partner with the OMJ Business Service Team to promote and market employer incentive programs such as On-the-Job-Training (OJT) or Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)
  • Provide monthly job placement report to OMJ Program Specialist and Clark State staff
  • Coordinate with internal/external partners
  • Accurately prepare records and reports
  • Attend TAACCCT monthly meetings at Clark State Community College
  • Facilitate communication between students and course instructors concerning course assignments
  • Assist with improving the awareness of Clark State Community College Manufacturing program and other in-demand programs that leads to local and regional employment
