Academic Calendar / www.kent.ac.uk/about/termdates.php
The University of Kent’s academic year is split into three terms not two semesters.
Nomination and application deadlines / 15 May – September arrivals
15 October – January arrivals
Nomination process / Please send your nominations by email to
If you will nominate students for less than a full academic year, please confirm which term(s) he/she will come for rather than which semester.
Application information / This will be sent separately to partner universities and nominated students with the Guide for Erasmus students.
Course Information / www.kent.ac.uk/courses/modulecatalogue/
Students should choose modules from the subject area of the exchange. More advice about module choices will be sent to nominated students in the Guide for Erasmus Students.
Important notes:
-  Kent degree students register their modules in March for the following academic year which means that places on modules fill up very early. Because of this, it is essential that incoming Erasmus students apply and upload their Learning Agreements as early as possible in order to have the best choice of modules.
-  The Erasmus Team will check Learning Agreements and register modules in the months before arrival. Students will be contacted by email about any queries or problems.
-  Learning Agreements will be signed when modules have been approved and registered.
-  On arrival, students may only change registered modules if there is a timetable clash. Kent does not have an “add and drop” period.
English Language / Student Mobility – minimum B1 (on CEFR scale)*
Staff Mobility – minimum B2
*A higher level is beneficial.
Undergraduate students, and postgraduates who come for 6 months or less, are not normally required to provide proof of English language ability.
However:
-  Where there is an exchange agreement which allows students to register for a Masters degree, those students will be required to submit a Secure English Language Test certificate (SELT).
-  Students who need a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK must have a valid SELT and meet the English Language requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration.
Assessment and Examinations / Please note that the examination period takes place in the Summer Term (May-June), at the end of the academic year.
Students who are nominated for a period including the Summer Term are required to sit the examinations. Alternative assessment is not offered for students who are registered for the Summer Term.
Alternative assessment will only be considered for students who have been nominated for a study period ending in December or April.
Transcripts of Marks / Transcripts of marks will be published and sent to students in July after the Boards of Examiners have met. The Erasmus Team will then send out the ECTS transcripts to students’ home universities.
Students whose study period ends in December may request an official transcript in February.
Students whose study period ends in April may view their marks in the online Student Data Systems but will receive the official transcript in July.
Accommodation / www.kent.ac.uk/accommodation
Campus accommodation is offered to Erasmus students who apply within the accommodation deadline.
Support for disabilities and specific learning difficulties / Kent provides support for all students who declare a disability or specific learning difficulty.
Students should contact Student Support as soon as possible after they have applied so that the necessary arrangements for practical or academic support can be made before arrival.
