Foreword about the Steps to Increasing Mental Powers

What you are about to read needs some framework before you begin reading to understand what is included in the attached pages. Originally I wrote the following explanation as a much abbreviated supplement to explain these important first two steps in a series about the process of increasing our mental powers, strong personal growth and the potential for positive change in our life. There are additional steps, yet these are the only two you need to be complete at this time. The successive steps are of no value until the first steps are properly completed, and no comparison in value and power to these first two steps in the dance of life.

These steps are supported by a philosophy that is very broad and encompasses many new ideas, perspectives, and concepts about our human makeup. This philosophy includes an understanding to the many connections and interrelationships between, and with, the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of our life. There are concepts offered as viable alternatives, (read as contradictions) to what we have accepted as viable explanations from birth. Naturally, the full explanation could only be set forth in a book length format. A copy of which is available via a document file that can be obtained on request.

Usually you and I would have had an extended conversation about this philosophy and the two steps previously. Your interest in wanting to follow throughwould be the follow up, and not a full explanation. It was written to serve you as an outline and a reminder of prior discussion examples, and to clarify the two steps with examples needed to successfully complete them.

You will encounter statements or references to concepts and ideas that are not fully explained, merely incorporated or alluded to in the text. Long explanations and details are not included because it would require a large book to give you the full measure of understanding and comprehension about this unique philosophy. This is an abbreviated Cliff notes version at best.

So please remember this as you read the following pages. Read this information several times with an open mind, temporarily accepting the concepts as valid or true. I admit that many of the concepts and ideas mentioned are vague in this text and it may not be the easiest reading or best explanation. Accept it for the moment, entertain the possibilities that are real and possible.

Personally from my perspective and experience, the long term results are significant and very beneficial. Many friends and acquaintances have completed these steps over the years. Some of their results and benefits are quite extraordinary, others not so life changing, but they credit the steps with the many and varied positive outcomes in their life. It is their testimonials, specific examples how it helped them, or the benefits they gained which I relate to you in the attached pages. Having completed them in 1983, my only regret was being unable to do them much earlier in my life.

I know you will benefit from these steps as many others and myself have. If you have additional questions, need a better explanation or clarification, contact me. What I really like to hear is your testimonial, results, benefits and perspective how it helped you for others to read.

The Steps to Increasing Mental Powers

The simple exercises described below are perhaps the most remarkable, and, important advance in the process of self help and personal development that you will ever encounter. It is estimated that we only use ten or eleven percent of brain power in our life. Why are we limited in this aspect? Who would not like to use more than this meager amount of our total brain power? Every few years we are doubling the foundation of knowledge available too us, and we could really use all the help we can get. The knowledge and understanding we have about our human nature and our mental makeup seems so vast and complex in the recent journals of science and medicine. However, if compared to a one hundred page book that contained the full measure of understanding of the human mental systems, we would only be on about page thirteen. This should give us a clear indication that our understanding is so very incomplete at this stage of our evolution in life.

There are so many processes and capabilities that will go undiscovered, simply because we can only observe the physical aspects of how the brain functions. There is a whole element of understanding that we can not perceive which resides in the invisible, or spiritual aspects of life to which we are joined during our physical life. We need the observations and assistance from that invisible and spiritual side of life to help us in understanding the makeup of human life. Should you wish to believe it, the following information is derived from that invisible side of life for our benefit. To fully explain this rather bold statement, and the who, what, and where of the source of this information would require a book in itself. The real importance of the information and two exercises below, is to extend an offer to anyone who is interested in self development and improving their quality of life.

Sparing you the details of my personal testimonial or from others who have completed the steps, I can assure you that the benefits to be gained are hard to believe, and describe. Upon learning of the simplicity of these two steps, you will hardly believe how complex the underlying information that is required to really understand their benefits. The good news is that taking it one piece at a time, it can easily brought into one big picture that is understandable. The standard response I usually receive is something like, "that's impossible that it can do all that." Or when hearing of the second step, it usually evokes a response like, "I couldn't or wouldn't lie to myself." These responses are to be expected by myself and others who have completed the exercises. Some of them felt the same way at first. Should you complete these steps and want to share them with others, expect similar responses. Even these pages are admittedly, an overly simple explanation. It would require many chapters to offer a more complete explanation to fully comprehend the overall process. You can read that one later. It's more important for you to get started with these exercises.

The first two steps are the most critical in a series of steps that will help you to gain use of more brain power. It is these first two steps that are responsible for breaking that physical barrier which restricts us to using only ten or eleven percent of our brain power. The rest of the steps do not compare in the overall importance of these first two steps. To begin with, everyone is bound by this restrictive physical limit from the procreative moment of our physical life. Because of the exacting process required to remove this physical barrier in our mental makeup, it is seldom achieved under any other known process of self improvement. If it does occur, it is usually by accident in a roundabout method. Following through with the two steps below, is the quickest, most direct, and pronounced method possible. It can be completed in forty days. Many of the benefits described below will accrue before completion, and many more over the rest of your life.

The personal benefits to be gained upon completion of these two simple steps are pages and pages long. Since every person is unique in their overall makeup, the full range of results will be different for each person. There are general patterns that everyone will notice, but the full measure of benefits is unique for each person. The general benefits are so noticeable that within a short period of time, you will become aware of them whether or not you are looking for the results. Just what results you will obtain personally, remains to be discovered by you.

Let's begin with a very basic and simple explanation of the brain and its' makeup. We are a two form system of life. That is, how we think about something, and how we feel about something. The thinking process involves the physical brain, our physical intelligence. The feeling aspect involves the mind, our spiritual intelligence. These two systems are separate and distinct entities! The brain is physical, the mind is spiritual. They are equivalent only in reference. The term mind is broadly defined as our overall intelligence by current science and medical references.

What you need to consider in the course of the following pages, is that mind and brain are totally separate. Also consider that conscious thinking is physical; a result of the brain and its myriad of processes. Subconscious thought, or actually that feeling aspect is spiritual, and a result of the mind and its incredible powers. You can always revert back to your previous understanding, but to gain a clear understanding of the following information, use this new perspective.

What is meant by the term 'equivalent only in reference?' The brain is the most complicated matter in the universe, and its' processes extremely complex and interrelated. Being physical, it is also subject to the frailties and debilitating forces of the physical world. As complex and inspiring as the brain is, it really can not be put in the same class of ability as the mind. It is but a mere shadow of the power of the mind, for the mind is perfect and divinely created. They are both created/procreated at the moment of conception, and will hang in there together till death. God creates, man procreates. Since they reside in their own dimension, physical and spiritual, there is no form of a tangible or physical link between the mind and the brain. In order for the mind and brain to communicate with each other, there has to be some form of identification to complete this link.

This special communication link is really for the benefit of the brain and not the mind. The mind in one sense exists in both the physical and spiritual realms of life. The brain and the physical dimension of life could be considered as a lower plane. The spiritual dimension of life being on a higher plane, can transcend or comprehend both dimensions at the same time. The brain can exist only in this physical dimension of life, unable to transcend the spiritual dimension. This is the ultimate reason we can not comprehend all things spiritual. We can logically understand and discuss the spiritual aspects in religion and scientific discourse, we can not fully comprehend it.

As our life long companion, the mind and our spirit body can not be disconnected from the brain and physical body until death. However, as there is no tangible physical link between the mind and brain, there is a weak link in this unique communication channel between mind and brain. This weak link does allow for a form of disconnection from the flow of information and assistance from the mind. This disruption can range from very mild to a full loss of connection, like the flow of electricity to a light bulb. Full current is a bright light, and as the power is reduced, the light dims. Substitute information for electricity and that is a good analogy of the disruption of the communication channel between mind and brain .

Electricity typically flows in one direction, and so does the information flow between mind and brain. Think of this communication link as a circular, one way flow of information. The flow always travels from the brain to the mind, and only rarely in a very unique circumstance does it happen in reverse. However, to fully explain this now would only complicate the objective and add more pages to this exercise. Since the mind exists in both dimensions, and is so powerful in its' abilities, it is simultaneously aware of everything the brain knows. So how does the mind communicate with the brain? How is information from the mind to the brain blocked? More importantly, is how does the brain receive this information from the mind? How do they exchange information? The entire process is by the use of your first name! This is the special link, and the only way the brain can recognize the inspiration and assistance from your mind.

At the moment of conception, the mind is created by God. It is divinely endowed with all the information it needs to assist you for your entire life. As such, it already knows much about you. The mind was given the task by God to select a unique bundle of personality traits and implant those in the brain during the fetal stage of development. The majority of these personality traits are selected to enhance and support our three special God given talents. The mind is also given the task to help us throughout our life in any way it can. One way is easily recognized as our intuition, or gut feelings, about circumstances and situations we will encounter during life. The classic description is that women have intuition, and men have gut feelings. It is exactly the same process, regardless of descriptive terms. It is registered or recognized in the same physical place of our body, the lower abdominal area.

It would be very easy to sidetrack and add more detail about our personality traits, but this would add many more pages. As you read further the important concepts of our personality traits will be included. The mind selects two thirds of our total collection of personality traits during fetal growth and can take its' time to implant these. Seven days prior to birth, it will seal the brain compartment of these personality traits with our first name. Naturally, being a part of the spiritual dimension and a divine instrument of God, the mind does have limited access to future knowledge about yourself. This is another way the mind can assist you in life. So your personality traits are now identified with a name, and this special form of communication between mind and brain is about to begin upon your birth.

Think of your personality traits like seeds that were planted in a perfectly spaced garden waiting to sprout and grow. During our life, and more closely related to the demand factor of your life, these traits will sprout and grow like plants to shape you as a unique and one of a kind person in the universe. No two people will ever have the exact same combination of personality traits and talents. This is your eternal fingerprint in one sense. How well we know that in any garden weeds can grow, and a gardener's job is never ending. As the seeds you plant in your garden sprout, weeds can take over and crowd out or choke out the desired plants. Even though the seeds of your personality traits are unique to you, it is possible to adopt personality traits of other people through a form of imitation. When this occurs, it is just like the weeds in any garden, they will grow and crowd out your own personality plants.

This process occurs through a form of adoption. When you see an admirable trait or quality in other people, it is quite correct to imitate or include that admirable behavior in your life. What can happen, is that we might imitate that trait to the point of adopting it so that it becomes a working part of our life. We often are most susceptible to this process in our teenage years. We are struggling to form, if not find our identity in life that we knew so well as a child. With the onset of adolescence, all that we knew about ourselves such as our personality, what we wanted to do in life, is lost with the myriad of chemical changes that take place. Without a strong sense of identity and encouragement going into adolescence, it is easy to lose sight of our dreams and goals. Peer pressure is very intense at this stage of life. We want to be a part of something, feelings of aloneness overwhelm us at times, and so we seek to be included and identified with a peer group or the 'in' crowd. A person might easily adopt a habit and imitate it as a means of acceptance in a peer group to the point where it becomes a working part of their own personality. This would be just like a weed taking root and growing in your own garden of personality traits.

Often we outgrow these personality adoptions and discard them from our behavior, sometimes we don't. Unintentionally we might even invite more into our personality makeup. Whatever the outcome, that adopted weed is still there and has taken root. It may no longer be flourishing as before, but it is probable that it is preventing some of your traits from being able to sprout. The problem is that these personality weeds are shallow rooted and spread over the top of your own personality garden. They crowd out or prevent your own personality seeds from sprouting or growing in the sunshine of your life. The seeds of your personality were planted deeply in the fertile soil of your brain. They do not require nearly as much energy or brain power to function and grow. Each adopted trait or weed in your garden requires ten times the amount of energy or brain power to function. So the adopted traits, or weeds, rob you of precious energy and brain power. The previous example of the reduced current flow to the light bulb is an excellent description when applied to our overall makeup. Because of these weeds, we may not shine as brightly as we possibly could. This drain of energy can also be felt at the end of the day when we are mentally tired, but, perhaps not physically tired. You have that drained feeling.
