Treasurers Report for the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Limington House 12/05/2016

Well another really busy year for the Friends of Limington House and some fantastic fundraising achieved by the hardworking committeemembersand willing volunteers.

During 2015 the committee raised £4,045– the details of which are attached.

This means that with all your help and support we have achieved the £10,000 goal we originally intended to raise towards a new minibus – amazing!

Needs change however and in consultation with Justin it was decided that a new minibus is not now a current necessity. This is because during 2015 the Variety Club very kindly part-funded, with the school, the lovely new red Variety bus that I’m sure most of you will have seen on site.

As a result of this the Friends asked Justin what the school would like to spend the money raised on.

Justin felt that an area in school which really needs improving is the Library area. He also felt there was a need for some library furniture in the FE area.

So the Friends have agreed to fundthe FE Library furniture and the refurbishment of the Primary & Secondary Library area, also providing some new books.

As well as the Library project a SoundBeam is being funded by the Friends and should be shortly arriving in school. Exciting times!

The Friends wanted all of the students in the school to benefit from the money raised and we believe this is a wonderful way to ensure this.

It’s not all spending however and this year so far the Friends have raised another £3,034 - an amazing amount considering it’s only the beginning of May!

Here are some of the more notable events which have contributed to this amount:-

  • The Easter Fayre was a huge success as usual and was fantastically supported by parents and friends. We raised £1,292.
  • £1,109 has been received from Jen & Lynda’s Reading Half Marathon Challenge so far. Both Jen & I trained really hard for this event and were thrilled to complete the 13.1 miles in our target times.
  • The Friends Vice-Chair Julie Partridge held a very successful stall at the Rotary club Festival over the recent bank holiday weekend and managed to raise £290! Well done Julie!
  • The Valentine’s Disco was very successful andraised £181.

Sadly the time has come for me to step down from the Friends of Limington House Committee. I have really enjoyed helping to support the Committee over the past 6 years as Treasurer and would like to wish all the members the very best of luck with their fundraising in the future.
