Our politics today is divisive,our governmentsdysfunctional. Nobody seems to have any clue as to what's gone wrong, much less how to fix it. What's at stake today? Just about everything for just about everybody!
We can no longer afford to await rescue by somebody else.It's time we take responsibility, to empower and mobilize ourselves for effective political action. So we ask you, are you?
1. Concerned about the criticalstateof our politics today,
2. Committed to effectively overcoming that concern; and
3. Curious regarding how to achieve real change?
Our Vasconcellos Legacy Project (VLP) is an established non-partisan 501(c)(3) educational non-profit entity with a mission to systematically:
1. Search out the root causes of our political paralyses and failures;
2. Identify the most promising vision which provides us means for coming up with solutions that will prove to be
fitting, effective and sustaining; and
3. Advance our“Politics of Trust”into becoming the mainstream of all our politics.
Our VLP offers you a complete package for empowering yourself to seize your destiny and assure we improve it. As far as we know, we have the most (if not only) story to tell that teaches us what we need to know-to both ask and answer:
1. How come, just about everything today seems to be unraveling?
2. How cure, ourselves + allelse so we can come together, advance our whole new 'Politics ofTrust?'
In 1970 futurist Willis Harman recognized signs of an emerging revolution akin to earlier revolutions that profoundly upended the entirety of our established order: the shift from negative to positive regarding our vision of ourselves, our human nature and potential. That revolution has grown so pervasively, near universally, that in 2005 conservative Thomas Sowell proclaimed, 'Beneath every hot button social and political issue of our times, is to be found a conflict of visions between those who believe we humans are innately inclined toward evil and those who believe we're inclined toward good.'
For the past half-century we’ve lived throughseven irreversible revolutions regarding:our gender, race, age, technology, economy, communications and self-esteem. These revolutions moved us into a new economy, demography and consciousness. Yet we find ourselves still stuck in the same old politics: cynical and controlling, divisive and dysfunctional. The reality is that our politics are broken and beyond fixing according to their own terms. For as Einstein taught us, 'We cannot solve problems utilizing the same assumptions that led to their creation in the first place.'
It‘s past time we grow to recognize that such a conflict of visions(akin to our 1860's U.S. Civil War) is irreconcilable. In fact, what some of us experience as a break-down of all our society and institutions, others experience as a break-up of those old negative confines that we are out-growing. Our only promising choice is to own up to our 'Conflict of Visions' and figure out how we're going to grow into learning to 'Live and let live' - to get all of us through these contentious times.
The Politics of Trustadopts the 'faithful'(as opposed to 'cynical') choice of our Conflict of Visions, and has come up with what one 'Knowing expert' characterized as,The most complete - both comprehensive & coherent - package of all components essential for advancing a whole new faithful 'Politics of Trust.'
Our VLP programs are basically grounded in the vision of pioneering humanistic psychologist Carl Rogers, ‘I come to believe that we human beings are innately inclined toward becoming life-affirming, constructive, responsible & trustworthy!' This vision undergirds all we have produced:
- In-depth analyses of the root causes of both our fiscal and social crises;
- Our 16-point Expanding Human Agenda;
- 11 'Blueprints for (restoring) our Golden State;' and
- A 24 step (3 giant + 21 small) pathway toward our own personal 'Eureka Moment'.
This package empowers each of us to grow political, and to go public, individually and altogether. For our role and responsibility in these challenging times is to become mid-wives for our emerging culture, all the while becoming grateful, respectful hospice workers for our traditional culture.
Our situation is dire. The time is ripe. Our people are ready. All we need is enough of us to come together smartly, move ourselves strategically and systematically toward bringing the 'Politics of Trust' to life within our lifetimes.
