FRIDAY GRADUATION PRACTICE INFORMATION

If you signed up to ride the activity bus from Reagan, you need to meet Coach McGee in the cafeteria by 11:30. The bus will leave Reagan at 11:30. It will return after graduation practice is over.

Only seniors, junior marshals, and Reagan staff are in attendance. No parents, family, or guests.

Seniors are to park in the Sierra Mist lot. Enter through the smoking patio door where Coach McGee will be stationed. Do not enter through the front of the Coliseum or underneath the Coliseum.

Be at the Coliseum by 12:20. Practice starts at 12:30. You’ll need to be in your assigned seat. IF the early practice is running late, we’ll hold all of our seniors in the tunnel.

Practice runs until 2:30. You must stay the entire time.

It is HIGHLY encouraged for you to bring the shoes that you plan to wear on Saturday. This will allow you to walk in them through the Coliseum – you’ll be walking up and down numerous flights of stairs and around the Coliseum floor during the actual ceremony.

SATURDAY GRADUATION INFORMATION

A few reminders for students:

Enter through the smoking patio door adjacent to the Sierra Mist Lot. Donot wear your gown in. You will not be allowed in the backstage area early due to other graduations. On Saturday, the door willbe open for you to enter at 2:00.

Please lock all valuables in the trunk of your car. Homeroom teachers will be collecting car keys. Please do not give your keys to another senior. Please give your keys to your homeroom teacher or the teacher covering your homeroom. Cell phones, purses, ipods, etc. should be locked in your car. Do not bring these in! Therewill be absolutely no need for you to have any of these items with you during the ceremony. It is best to leave them in the car.

Appropriate Senior Graduation Attire: This was spelled out very specifically on your Graduation Memo. Ladies should wear a dress or skirt & top, and black dress shoes. All shoes should have a secured heel. There shall be absolutely no sneakers or flip flops, not even dressy flip flops including Jack Rogers. Skirt/dress length should be appropriate, but if it is longer than the gown, you will have to pin it up. Ladies should remember that you’ll be walking up and down many stairs, thus high heels are neither practical nor logical for this day. We highly recommend you to wear your planned shoes to practice. If you have questions, see Mrs. Bonifay. Gentlemen should wear black, navy blue, or khaki dress slacks (absolutely no jeans or cargo pants), dress shoes (no boots, flip-flops, or sneakers), white or off-white dress shirt, and a dark tie or bowtie. Hopefully, you have steamed the wrinkles out of your gown and tried on your cap & gown (be sure your zipper works.) If you have a “fit” problem, bring the cap or gown (whichever doesn’t fit) to Mr. Hamrick backstage on Saturday. We will also help you with any additional problems backstage on graduation day. Be sure to have your tassels with your caps and gowns (the solid teal, not the souvenir tassel.)

-Upon Saturday’s Arrival– Once you’ve entered the Coliseum, you’ll check in with your homeroom teacher. You will put on your caps and gown in front of your teacher, but do not zip themuntil the staff memberhas verified your graduation attire. Your solid teal tassel should be on the right side of your cap. The caps must be totally flat on the top of your head – pay attention when doing your hair. No decorating your cap or gown. Once you have your cap and gown on, get in your line, and stay put for the first roll call @ 2:40. Final roll call will occur at 2:50. If you are not in place at the final roll call, you will not be able to process in with your class. Since your families will be coming into the Coliseum around 2:00, we will need to stay quiet in the backstage area. Please remind your parents they may not come backstage, and once you are in the backstage area, you may not leave that area until the end of the program. (This is for security purposes.) We should all keep in mind that this is a very dignified and formal ceremony. Please do not cause your diploma to be held by the administration.

Just a few reminders for parents:

  1. The Coliseum will give the Reagan staff permission to open the doors for guests. This will take place at approximately 2:00.
  2. Seats may not be saved. Ask your senior which side of the Coliseum he/she is sitting.
  3. Family members are not allowed on the Coliseum floor nor backstageat any time!
  4. Please remember the prohibited items list that is available on the graduation tab of the senior webpage (food, beverages, noisemakers of any kind, balloons, signs, wrapped packaged, long golf umbrellas) will not be allowed into the arena area.
  5. Bags/purses will be checked at the door.
  6. You may take pictures or videotape, but they cannot come on the floor, nor set up tripods in the aisles. LifeTouch will be taking the “grip and grin” shot.
  7. Once seniors have recessed, they will get their packets from the homeroom teacher. They’ll leave the coliseum immediately afterwards. Parents /guests are not allowed in the area where distribution occurs. Please make sure you have arranged with your senior where to meet outside the coliseum.

The parking maps are on the Senior Webpage. Click on the Graduation tab to find where to park. I have also attached an overhead satellite image that identifies where to park and where students are to enter.
