FRESHMEN PROGRAM OF STUDIES

All freshmen are required to follow a basic program of studies, which does not allow for a large variety of electives. The electives available are band and chorus. There is a choice of foreign languages (See Item 11). More time for elective courses is available during the 10th, 11th and 12th grades. All levels of programs qualify a student for college admission.

During the ninth grade a student may have a schedule which includes courses on various levels. Examples of schedules are:

Accelerated Level / College Prep Level I / College Prep Level II / Schedule with Band/Chorus

*Students who have already completed Algebra I or the first year of a foreign language may be placed in a second-year course depending on their performance on the placement examinations. Students who take band/chorus during the 9th grade postpone Foreign Language or World History to the 10th grade.
