Freedom of Information Act Request 462005

Thank you for your recent request received 4 May. Your request was actioned under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in which you requested the following:

  1. The number of people who have attempted, successfully or unsuccessfully, to make a claim to Liverpool City Council for vehicle damage or personal injury caused by a pothole in 2014, 2015 and so far in 2016.
  1. If possible, I would also like to know the amount of the compensation awarded by the Council for these aforementioned dates.

Response:

Liverpool City Council holds information relevant to your request and can confirm the following:

  1. The information below is for all claims received by the City Council (vehicle damage and personal injury) reportedly relating to highway defects (e.g. potholes, raised flags etc.).

  1. Highway tripping claims with a reported incident date pre-1st July 2013 are managed in-house by the City Council’s Pre-Proceedings Unit. Highway tripping claims with a reported incident date of 1st July 2013 onwards are managed through Amey LG Limited (as outlined above).

The compensation figures which have been provided are for those claims which are managed through Amey LG Limited. The compensation figures listed are for the claims where the incident has occurred during that particular year.

The City Council will consider appeals, referrals or complaints in respect of your response and these must be submitted in writing to within 28 days of receiving your response.
