FREE SUMMER DANCE CAMP

AileyCamp Chicago uses the magic of dance to touch the lives of youth in the Chicago area.

Dance is used as a medium to encourage adolescents aged

11-14 years to develop discipline, achieve academic, social and personal success in their lives.AileyCamp strives to expand critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities, as well as encourage a good sense of nutrition and well-being,

all while fostering healthy relationships and perhaps, most important of all, self-esteem. Participants will experience daily classes in Dance, Drumming & Percussion, Visual Art, Spoken Word and Personal Development as well as weekly field trips, guest speakers and workshops.

WHAT IS AILEYCAMP?
A summer day camp where pre-teens are “turned on” to dance, and come to respect the discipline of dance as a physical activity which requires athletic ability comparable to skills demanded by any sport. Also, campers increase their leadership skills, and enjoy a variety of athletic and social activities.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
One hundred students, who are currently in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade (ages 11 to 14), will be selected from the applications received. Prior dance training is not a consideration for admission.
WHEN IS AILEYCAMP?
AileyCamp will take place from Monday, June 26 – Friday, August 4, 2017. Camp begins at 8:30am, and ends at 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Campers are expected to attend each day, unless they are ill. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to send your child during the mentioned dates. If you have any vacation plans during this time DO NOT APPLY.

Attire, field trips, and lunches are provided.
