BlackBerry Unveils its Next Generation of SecuSUITE for Samsung Knox
Düsseldorf/Hannover, March 19, 2017 – BlackBerry (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB), today announced the next generation of its SecuSUITE for Samsung Knox, a highly secure voice and data encryption solution for Samsung smartphones and tablets. The updated solution enables governments and public authorities to protect their phone calls and to work securely on the go. Moreover, the solution allows personal apps to be used in accordance with the strict security requirements of German federal agencies. This means users also have access to a wide range of Android apps, including Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
BlackBerry Secusmart’s new SecuSUITE for Samsung Knox can be seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure of SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10 and SecuTABLET. The solution enables secure telephone calls to be made in accordance with the SNS communication standard established by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
“We are committed to improving the security of smartphone communication, which includes helping government agencies to keep up with the demands of the modern world by enabling them to work on the go on the latest devices. We are continuing along this path by providing our technology on Samsung smartphones and tablets, placing particular emphasis on secure voice communication during the election year,” says Dr. Christoph Erdmann, Managing Director of BlackBerry Secusmart, during CeBIT in Hannover.
Close collaboration between BlackBerry Secusmart and Samsung guarantees maximum security, while ensuring the technology is extremely easy to use and is always available on the latest devices. “One of the most important concerns at C-Suite level is the security of enterprise and government data on mobile devices. For this reason, Samsung has created Knox, a robust and multi-certified security solution for Android, which guarantees comprehensive security and an intuitive application” explains Sascha Lekic, Director IM B2B at Samsung Electronics GmbH. “SecuSUITE for Samsung Knox will increase the security of mobile devices to an entirely new level.”
The news comes as BlackBerry continues its momentum of securing the Enterprise of Things, which includes helping governments secure their mobile voice and data communications. BlackBerry Secusmart has been providing German federal agencies with mobile security solutions for years, including SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10, which is famous for being used by the German Chancellor, and more recently the SecuTABLET. In addition to BB10 devices, government agencies can now use the Samsung Galaxy S7 and, soon, the Galaxy S8, to make protected calls and to work securely on the go.
