Each year, NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore recognizes community leaders, mental health practitioners, and volunteers for their work to improve the lives of people affected by mental illness. NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore is now accepting nominations for the 2015 awards. To nominate an individual, please review the award descriptions below and submit a nomination form to by September 1, 2015.

Frances J. Lentz Mental Health Professional of the Year

Each year, this award is given to a mental health professional who reaches beyond the requirements of his or her profession to improve the lives of individuals living with mental illness and their families. The award honors Frances J. Lentz, a longtime NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore volunteer, who has helped countless individuals and families find services and support.

2014 recipient: Dr. Edward Zuzarte, Sheppard Pratt Health System

Marcia G. Pines Lifetime Advocacy and Service Award
The NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore Board of Directors created this annual award to recognize advocates who demonstrate a consistently high standard of and long-term dedication to furthering the NAMI mission. The award is named for our long-time advocate Marcia Pines, who during her many years of service worked tirelessly on public policy issues and served on our affiliate Board and the NAMI Maryland Board. Marcia was a strong personal advocate, never failing to speak up when meeting a family that needs NAMI.

2014 recipient: Senator Delores Kelley, Maryland State Senate

Outstanding Volunteer Award

The Outstanding Volunteer Awards honor volunteers’ exceptional commitment to the organization, and the breadth of their investment of both time and passion in volunteering. The award recognizes volunteers who are strong advocates and voices for NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore throughout the community.
