Framework for Communication Operations

The following guidelines are established for management of the Cookeville Breakfast Rotary website and the weekly eBulletin publication.

First and foremost all submitted requests must include the complete scope of intended content. Rather than general/vague ideas or suggestions for content, all ‘articles’ submitted must be as ready for ‘press’ as possible. From there I will edit, proof, and design content to fit the media page. CertainlyI am capable of creating, proofing, and editing content on my own, but I do not need to be the sole contributor/creator of content to our communications.

SO:

  • If you want a story included on the website and/or bulletin, write the story.
  • If you have an event or speaker you want announced, send ALL of the pertinent information, along with any images, in a comprehensive format that can be copied and pasted into the appropriate places.
  • If you feel the format of the website or eBulletin needs tweaking or revision, make cogent suggestions on how, what, and why; “I think it should be different”, or “I don’t like the way it looks” are not helpful without attendant suggestions on changes and improvements.
  • Submit your input early… E A R L Y. I try to have the eBulletin ready to send by Sunday afternoon, and begin building the new bulletin almost immediately after sending the current one. The more time I have to get everything formatted, the better it will look.
  • Be clear and detailed on what you want me to do with your content. Left to my discretion, the relative precedencegiven a particular submission may not result in your satisfaction.

Every officer should have some input to our communications. It would be great to have at least two articles or updates per month from each committee. Our fellow Rotarians need to know what each committee is doing so they can support us as we lead the organization’s activities.
