Wednesday 14th September 2016

Dear Families,

I would like to inform you of our forthcoming Family Consultation Evenings. In order to provide quality time for the teacher, child and parents/carers to meet we will be running two Consultation Evenings. The meeting is important for several reasons.

 It encourages pupils to take an active part in their learning and the target setting process

 The child is involved in the discussion and is able to put across their point of view

 The teacher, parent/carer and pupil share a common understanding of the areas to work on

 Parents and carers can share and discuss concerns with staff

We intend to allow 10 minutes for each meeting and this will help the 3-way discussion. We want all children, regardless of their age, to take part in the meetings and we also plan to give you a written set of targets following the meeting. This will ensure that agreement reached on targets is clear to you, to us and to your child.

The consultation events will take place on:

Wednesday 5th October 2016and Thursday 6thOctober 2016. School will finish at the usual time. Nursery will also be holding Consultation Events and a separate letter will be sent out. Due to prior commitments there are slightly different dates and timings for children in Y3MC. Please see the slip for details of these differences.

If you are attending structured conversation meetings as part of our Achievement for All programme, you do not need to attend a Family Consultation meeting as well. All other children will need to sign up for an appointment. To help this process you will need to specify a time on the attached slip or choose your own time from the sign-up sheet displayed outside each class if you prefer. For families with children in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, staff will then discuss when family appointments will need to be made. We will aim to ensure that family times are as close together as possible. You will receive confirmation of this before the events.

I hope you will agree that the involvement of yourselves, your child and all staff in school can only enhance your child’s learning by clearly focussing on their needs.

Please complete the attached form and return to your child’s class teacher or look out for the sign up sheets outside your child’s class.

We look forward to seeing you.

Yours sincerely

Clare Hayes
