Roses and Pro-Life pins

This weekend (Mother’s Day), the Respect for Life committee will be selling REAL roses in the narthex for $1.00. They will also have Pro-Life pins available for sale. All proceeds are to benefit Massachusetts Citizens for Life.

Senior Youth Ministry

No Drop In – Bowling- There will be no regular “Drop In” this Monday evening May 14th because we will be going bowling at Wonder Bowl in New Bedford. We will be leaving from the camp house at 6:00 (1/2 hr. early) and returning at 9:00 (1/2 hr. late). You don’t have to be a good bowler to join in on the fun. Join us, and help us knock down some pins. You’ll have a ball !! Bring $10.00 for bowling, and extra money for snacks and drink. Please RSVP so that we can arrange transportation.

Coffee and Donuts --- We are hosting coffee and donuts after the 8:00 and 9:30 Masses this weekend. Stop by the hall and help us out after Mass. Thank You !

Last Drop In --- We have to give up the Camp House so that Cathedral Camp can get ready for the summer season. Our last regular Drop In will be on Monday May 21st. Watch the bulletin and check your e-mails for summer events. Our “Drop In” season will resume in September after school starts.

Camping Trip ---Get Ready !!! Our camping trip will be on July 27th through 30th this year . Stay tuned for more details.

Attention Graduating Seniors : Coming soon !! Save the Date !! The Grad Mass will be on Sunday June10th at 9:30AM and the Senior Dinner will be held on June 12th at 6:30 PM.

Festival Sign Ups--- The sign up sheets are in the narthex. Please pick some times to work Basketball—Speedball or Slap shot Hockey. We have lots of slots to fill.

Work Parties ---- Come help out setting up the Lakeside Family Festival. There is plenty to do. Lots of hands make little work. You will meet some great people, learn some new skills and have fun while doing it. The Party begins at 8:00 every Saturday morning until the festival weekend arrives.

St. John Neumann Book Club

Our next book is Abraham, a Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths by Bruce Feiler.

Please note that our next book will be discussed on May 14th and June 11th. We will not be meeting on the last day of the Festival.

St. Mary’s Education Fund

The Diocese of Fall River is once again, through the St Mary’s Education Fund, making “need-based” scholarships available for the 2012-2013 school year. Students presently enrolled, or who are registered for the 2012-2013 school year in one of the 21 Diocesan Elementary or Middle schools, are eligible to apply. Any parent interested in having their child attend one of the Catholic elementary or middle schools in the Diocese of Fall River should contact the principal of the school in which they have interest. Once accepted and registered they may apply for the “need-based” scholarship aid. Application may be obtained at any of the schools.

Today’s readings encourage us to keep God’s commands; to love God and one another. Spring Cleaning

The Barn is waiting for your items for the Lakeside Festival. We collect clean reusable items. You must call first to make sure they are items we can sell and I can put them away. WE CANNOT ACCEPT – Electronics, Electric or fuel powered tools or baby furniture. Call Marlene Johnson at 508-763-2569 for more information. Note: furniture will be accepted the week of the Lakeside Festival.

Ride Pre-Sale Tickets

Pre-sale ride tickets will be sold after all Masses on 5/12-5/13 and 5/19-5/20 in Neumann Hall. They will also be available Thursday night 5/24 from 6-8 on the field. Tickets are $7.00 for a strip of 10 and each strip earns a raffle ticket for a $100 cash prize courtesy of Fiesta Shows.

Catholic Charities Appeal

May 1st began the 2012 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal for the Diocese of Fall River. In the spirit of Christian charity, please contribute generously to the appeal, which enables the Church of the Fall River Diocese to provide programs for people in all phases of life – children, youth, parents and families in crisis, and elderly. Numerous agencies, programs and ministries provide shelter, educate children and adults and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of thousands in our diocese. Golf Tournament

to Honor Msgr. Harrington

Holy Family-Holy Name School will hold its “Msgr. Thomas J. Harrington Open” Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 24 at the Lakeville Country Club located at 44 Clear Pond Road, Lakeville, MA. Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the educational programs at the school.

The registration fee of $110 includes golf, cart, and a sirloin barbecue dinner n the air-conditioned clubhouse. It will be a scramble format with a shotgun start at 1 pm. Registration opens at 11:30 am. For those who do not want to play but still want to join in this event, dinner tickets are available.

There will be a chance to win a car or $5,000 cash Hole-In-One prize, in addition to many others prizes and raffles.

Troop 333 greatly appreciates St. John Neumann for your generosity with the Springtime Breakfast. Many appreciated the yummy breakfast served and the activities including the Easter Egg Hunt. The funds raised are critical for the Troop’s equipment needs and robotics team. Thank, thank, thank you!

Corpus Christi Procession

Sunday June 10, 2012 at 2:00PM from Our Lady’s Chapel, 600 Pleasant St., New Bedford. The Blessed Sacrament will be processed to three Benediction stations: Our Lady of Purgatory, St. Lawrence and St. John the Baptist Churches. While processing, the Rosary will be recited and hymns will be sung. All religious groups, youth groups etc., with their banners are invited. Also, children to strew flower petals in front of the Blessed Sacrament during procession are needed. Please come and be a witness to our faith through the streets of New Bedford.
