The SAMPE Foundation, a non-profit corporation; whose mission is to advance kindergarten through senior year in high school (K-12) education of students in math, science and engineering, specifically fiber reinforced plastics and advanced materials; requests that you submit a recommendation for the SAMPE Foundation’s “William Dahlgren Award”.

The William Dahlgren Award is given to teachers in K-12 education that exemplify going above and beyond their role as educators. This means that a teacher nominated for the award engages students in the subject, probing beyond mere necessitation of facts. Nominations from school principals and peers are appreciated.

William (Bill) Dahlgren has been working in the plastics industry since the 1950’s. He soon found many uses for films in the aircraft industry and pioneered many vacuum bagging materials being used today. Founding his own company in 1973 with 4 employees, Airtech has grown to 4 worldwide manufacturing facilities and over 500 employees. Married to an educator, education has always been important, and all Airtech facilities providing training in his products used in resin infusion and autoclave curing. William has always supported composite centers in Universities that included solar car, racing, robotics, and marine projects. He is also very involved in his faith and supports efforts that marry business and faith based learning.

Attached is a nomination form for the William Dahlgren Teacher of Excellence Award from the SAMPE Foundation. The award is in the amount of $500 to a teacher selected for the award. Email is the preferred method of receipt.
