Fort Regent to host ‘bigger than ever’ ice rink this Christmas

This Christmas, Sure will again be working with Ice Skate Jersey to bring the popular Christmas ice rink back to the island, in its new location at Fort Regent.

The rink has been a superb hit in recent years with over 25,000 taking to the ice last year and having a great time, regardless of their age or strength of their ice skating skills!

Islanders will be able to enjoy ice skating seven days a week from 6th December 2013 all the way through to 5th January 2014, with the exceptions of Bank Holidays.

In its new location at Fort Regent, the ice rink will be larger than ever before and it is hoped that will mean even more people will attend this year. The size of the rink has also enabled the creation of a new area specifically designed for coaching and younger children.
“We are really pleased to be sponsoring Ice Skate Jersey for the fifth year in a row,” said Lisa Mclauchlan, Head of Retail and Communications at Sure. “Every year, the organisers Keith and Trudie Halstead do a fantastic job in bringing the rink to Jersey and we are looking forward to the larger rink in its new location.”

The organisers of Ice Skate Jersey, Keith and Trudie Halstead, believe that the popularity of the ice rink should see Ice Skate Jersey being busier than ever before.

“The change of venue to Fort Regent has enabled us to increase the ice skate area by 180 square meters which is something we have wanted to do over the past 2 years” explained Keith “having a dedicated ice area where our professional coach can teach or the Sure penguin skate aids can be used by the youngsters is, we feel sure, going to be beneficial to all the users of the rink.”
