Formation and PD for Lasallian workplaces 2017

including those with more than one charism

Aims

  1. To determine for each workplace a strategic approach to both in-house and District opportunities for Lasallian formation and PD in 2017.
  2. To develop participants’ own knowledge of the interrelated dimensions of Lasallian formation.
  3. To adapt available resources to the needs of participants’ workplaces.
  4. To explore fruitful connections between charisms especially in schools with more than one heritage.
  5. To develop a network for the sharing of resources and approaches.
  6. To become familiar with the opportunities for Lasallian PD afforded by BBI The Australian Institute of Theological Education

Intended Participants

Those who have a significant role in planning and delivering Lasallian formation in-house, and in encouraging participation in District formation programs

Dates

Tuesday 22 November (5:00 pm) to Thursday 24 November (2:30 pm).

Participants will be able to leave the venue in time for the End-of-Year Mass at St Felix de Valois, Bankstown (5:00 pm)

Venue

Marist Brothers Hermitage, Old South Road, Mittagong

As an indication, the Hermitage is just over an hour’s drive from Bankstown.

Cost

$350, to be confirmed with the venue.

Approach

The emphasis will be on a planned and strategic approach to Lasallian formation and professional development in the context of the needs and situation of participants’ own workplaces.

The content of the program will be similar to that of Lasallian Studies, which has been running each year in Melbourne since 2014. Resources used for that program will be made available to participants. We will also explore mutually enriching connections between different charisms in schools with more than one heritage.

This program has been recognised by BBI-The Australian Institute of Theological Education, so that participants will be eligible for joint BBI-Gerard Rummery Institute certification. It will also be registered with Sydney Catholic Schools and other Catholic Education Offices.

The focus will be on aspects of this material which are relevant for formation opportunities in-house (staff meetings, liturgies, prayer, assemblies, retreats, notice boards, etc.) as well as on avenues for further formation and PD beyond the workplace (District formation programs, Buttimer, BBI, etc.).

It would be most helpful for participants to bring workplace 2017 calendars, staff and student development plans, themes that workplaces may be adopting in the coming year or years, and similar formation-related data.
