Formal Laboratory Report Format
Honors Chemistry-Sondreal 2015-2016
All formal laboratory reports must be from a word processing program (typed). Data and results that require spreadsheets and tables are to be completed on the appropriate word processor (word, excel). The raw data that is in the lab book or on a handout is to be included in your report.
1. Title page
Includes the title of the experiment, your name and date
Plus: Honors Chemistry, Teacher: Sondreal, 2012-2013
2. Question or Observation and Hypothesis
Briefly state the question/observation that the experiment was designed to answer. Hypothesis: A hypothesis is a statement that proposes an explanation based on an observation. It is testable and may or may not be true.
3. Materials and Equipment
List all the materials and equipment used in the experiment
4. Procedures
Write the procedure that you followed. If there was a change from the original written procedure, include it.
5. Results --Data Tables and Graphs and Summary
These include all the data tables and graphs required for the report completed on a word processor. A summary of the evidence is required in this section
6. Analysis and Questions
Answer any questions that are part of the experiment.
7. Conclusion
Follow the “Writing a Conclusion” handout.

In lab notebook, will be graded when notebook is graded
