FOREST SERVICE VOLUNTEER CAMPGROUND HOST POSITION DESCRIPTION

Volunteer campground hosts will live in the campground and have a “HOST” sign at their site.

The following visitor service duties are performed by volunteer camp hosts:

  • Greet visitors, answer questions, receive comments and be readily accessible to the public.
  • Contact park staff or law enforcement personnel when emergencies or activities within the park area warrant them.
  • Understand and explain rules that apply to park users.
  • Pick up litter and advise Linn County Park staff of maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a tidy host site and a professional, approachable appearance.
  • Assist with park and campground reservations.
  • Assist with selling firewood.

The benefits of volunteering as a Linn County Parks Campground Host are as follows:

  • Campsite - Hosts are required to live and work in the park, and will be provided a campsite.
  • Volunteer hosts will be reimbursed for up to _____ gallons of generator fuel per month if they are hosting in a campground that does not provide electricity.
  • Insurance - Workers’ Compensation and tort liability insurance is provided by Linn County when you serve as a volunteer. All hosts are covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance while on duty. This insurance is to help pay damage claims and medical expenses if you are hurt on the job. All volunteers are covered by Linn County for civil liability. This protects the volunteer from being liable for claims of negligence or injury to others under the following conditions: you are working on a parks task assigned by an authorized supervisor, you limit your actions to the duties assigned, and you perform your duties in good faith and do not act in a reckless manner or with the intent to inflict harm on others. Linn County does not provide personal property insurance. It is strongly recommended that you have all personal property covered by your own insurance. Linn County will not, and cannot, replace any lost, stolen, or damaged property.
