Forbo’s improved coral ENTRANCE SYSTEM: protecting buildings one step at a time WITH STYLE

Forbo Flooring Systems’ Coral® collection has been improved and refreshed to offer even more design freedom, while providing safety for visitors, protection for floors and style for interiors. A must for any building where people trample in dirt, moisture and pollutants underfoot, the Coral collection has also been developed with the overall visual impact in mind, to make a design statement in its own right.

Independent testing by Cleaning Research International has shown that by installing Forbo’s Coral collection, up to 95% of walked-in dirt and moisture can be removed from the soles of shoes in just six steps, which can reduce cleaning time by up to 65%[1]. These savings mean that the product and fitting costs can be recouped within just six months of use.

A variety of new designs and shades have also been introduced to the collection to reflect the latest design trends, including tonal plains and striking bright tones, as well as 50 x 50cm tile formats to aid waste reduction and provide additional flexibility when it comes to installation.

Garry Bateman, Head of Technical Sales and Support at Forbo Flooring systems, said: “Wrapped up in the daily demands of life, few of us stop to wipe our feet when entering a public building or place of work, therefore an entrance flooring system shouldn’t be an after thought. With a range of contemporary aesthetics now available, a high quality system can become part of the design itself, creating a unified scheme. It will also prevent dirt and moisture being tracked further into a building –optimising the long-term wear and appearance of the interior floor coverings and more importantly, minimising the potential for slip hazards.

“Forbo’s Coral collection not only provides superior performance in terms of reducing cleaning costs and removing dirt from the soles of shoes, it can also have a positive impact on the health and well-being of a building’s occupants. In fact, a healthy entrance is part of the Well Building Standard. It states that occupants [of a building] often track harmful contaminants indoors, including bacteria, heavy metals, lawn and agricultural pesticides, among other toxins. Therefore, installing a permanent entrance flooring system, like Coral, will combat the introduction of potentially harmful substances to indoor spaces.”

The Coral collection is also a sustainable choice, as it has a new phthalate free PVC backing and options that are manufactured with Econyl yarn, which is regenerated from abandoned fishing nets.

The collection consists of many different ranges, which have all been designed to meet an array of individual entrance needs, including systems that have exceptional moisture absorption and maximum dirt removal, to systems that have the style and aesthetics of luxury carpet tiles. Forbo’s Coral collection has also been the proud recipient for the CFJ Best Entrance Flooring Award for the past 4 years.

Garry concluded: “An entrance flooring system is a worthwhile investment, which can be considered as a design statement, while delivering the practical benefits required for a range of entrances.”
