Message from the President
I’m sure after Susan Desmond’s presentation at the March meeting everyone decided go back and review their Personnel Manual. I’m looking forward to what has become our annual meeting with ASTD. I look forward to hearing the tips Bonita Mendenhall has that we can use to inspire and motivate us in our daily life.
Upcoming Meetings and Events
April 3rd
The April CAHRA meeting will be held at the Huntington Grill located on County Line Road, Jackson, MS. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and our speaker will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Guest Speaker - Bonita Mendenhall
Ms. Mendenhall is a 1990 graduate from MississippiStateUniversity with a Master of Business Computer and Vocational Technology. For the past 17 years, Bonita has served as a graphic design/digital media teacher at NorthwestRankinHigh School. She also serves as a workshop presenter at the D. P. “Pat” McGowan Workforce Training Center of Holmes Community College in Ridgeland, MS.
Bonita is a member of FBC in Brandon, MS and since 2009, she has volunteered in the children’s church program, Elevate. She is a member of the National Business Education Association and Mississippi Educational Computing Association. Bonita has been married for 22 years and has a daughter in the 4th grade at Oakdale Elementary.
Topic: Let’s “C” What I Can Do
This will be an inspirational and motivational presentation how our everyday "C" words in our careers and casas are capable to leading us to the reward of a sweet piece of Cake. (i.e. Careers, Challenges, Complications, Crying, Complaining, Crisis, Chaos, Calamity, Crashes, Coping, Changes, Crazy, Calendars, Currency, Calories, Calisthenics, Counsel, Cuddling, Comfort, Caring, Calming, Calls, Chocolate, Coconut, Cream, Cherries, Cafe, Coffee)
**This program has been submitted for 1 hour of general recertification credit toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHRrecertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).**

  • CAHRA Certification Study Sessions for 2013 Exams - If you’re looking to take the PHR or SPHR exam in 2013, then this study session is for you. A group of HR professionals will be meeting to review information and study for the 2013 exams. These sessions can be self-run and informal or facilitated by a certified professional and will be a great learning opportunity for everyone. We will follow a discussion-based format where we use practice questions as a “jumping-off” point to talk about the issues. Please join the group anytime you are available and bring any study materials you might have. You are also welcome to extend this invite to anyone else who might be interested.

  • For any CAHRA member that successfully passes the PHR exam, the Chapter will reimburse the member $75.00. For the SPHR exam, the Chapter will reimburse the member $100.00 upon successful completion.

  • Our chapter has been designated as a 2012 SHRM Foundation Champion. Please thank Darlene Jardee and her team for their hard work last year.
  • The Sons and Daughters Award is provided by CAHRA for its members’ children who are high school seniors, high school graduates, or planning to enroll as a first year college undergraduate student in an accredited community, junior or 4 year college. Applications must be post marked by May 16th, in order to be considered for the award.
