For parents of children in Y6

Dear Parents

As part of Year 6’s learning about British values (including democracy, politics and law), we will be visiting the Houses of Parliament on the 23rd January 2017. The visit has been kindly arranged through the office of our local MP (and Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) Greg Clarke. As well as visiting the Palace of Westminster, including tours of both the Houses of Commons and Lords, we will be taking a river tour of the Thames up to Greenwich, where we will rendezvous with our coach for the trip back to school.

In order that we will arrive in London in time for our visit, we will need to leave school early. All children must be dropped off at school at 7.30am so that we may depart on time at 7.45am. We aim to be back in school for usual collection time, though will text parents if delayed. Please make sure a packed lunch is provided, as well as snack and drinking water. There is a small gift shop in the Palace and we will have a very short time to purchase minor souvenirs; please bring no more than £5.00. Please do not bring any electrical devices (including phones) although lo-cost cameras are allowed.

Whilst the cost of the Parliament tour is free, the coach and river tour is not. To keep costs down, we have decided to use our class ‘cake sale money’ to subsidise the trip. The remaining balance is £17.05 per child.

If your son/daughter suffers from travel sickness, please can you let Mr. Goodman know beforehand.

Payment

We would be grateful if parents could use the on-line method via School Money for payment for all school trips. Parents are able to give their consent at the same time as submitting the payment. If however parents are unable to use this method, payment by cheque or cash this is still acceptable at this time

Yours sincerely

Lindsay Roberts
