StJohn Group Introduces Artcoustic Acoustic Absorbers

Designer-friendly Wall Hanging Panels Improve Room Acoustics

November 5, 2009 -- Bellingham, WA -- StJohn Group, North American distributor for Artcoustic, the leader in superbly engineered, aesthetically designed on-wall loudspeakers & subwoofers, has introduced a line of sound absorbers designed to satisfy design-oriented consumers challenged by room acoustic problems. Interior designers and design-conscious consumers who need to compensate for rooms with hard surfaces, where it is often difficult to minimize echo or to perceive dialog intelligibility, now have a functional and beautiful solution that can be tailored to each individual's preference and room decor.

The absorbers, available immediately in three sizes through StJohn Group, help absorb mid- and high-frequency sound waves and reflections, thereby reducing echo effects and improving dialog intelligibility in rooms with lots of reflective surfaces, such as those with wood or tile floors, or large expanses of windows, plaster or drywall.

The absorbers, originally introduced by the company in 2002 and then discontinued several years later, have been re-introduced as ABS ONE, ABS TWO, and ABS THREE, and sport a host of acoustic improvements, as well as the ability to coexist seamlessly with any decor, due to the company's signature feature - solid colors from the company's Match System, or printed designs, artwork, and photography that cover the front surface of the acoustic panel. Printed designs can be ordered from the Artcoustic Art Portfolio, or supplied by the customer from the customer’s own electronic files.

Absorbers are recommended for use in home theaters and living spaces, conference and teleconference rooms, lecture halls, recording and broadcast studios, rehearsal rooms, performance spaces, and commercial spaces such as bars, restaurants, hotel lobbies, etc. Retail price of the absorbers starts at $2,000 each.

John Caldwell, sales director for StJohn Group, stated, "The largest and most important component in any audio or home theater system is the room itself. Specifying the proper acoustic treatment has always been a frustrating exercise for specialty AV dealers, as the vast majority of acoustical products have the design appeal of a science project. Now dealers, designers and their clients have an attractive and effective solution for maximizing the performance of the system's components and speaker system."

About Artcoustic

The business concept for Artcoustic evolved from the idea of providing an exclusive loudspeaker system to consumers that shared a passion for superb sound quality and a preference for design that reflected their own personalities and tastes. The Artcoustic loudspeaker range has been designed for today’s diverse interiors for the home, home cinemas, corporate boardrooms, professional recording studios, restaurants and hotels.

The loudspeakers are flat, only 3” or 5” deep, depending on the model. The sleek design gives the loudspeaker the character of a picture that can hang discreetly on the wall. This is enhanced by the individual freedom that allows the customer to choose the look of the front of the speakers. With solid color fabric or designs on the front screens, most don’t realize it is a speaker until it is turned on and playing.

Founded in 1998, Artcoustic is world renown for its range of high-end performance wall mounted speakers that feature interchangeable screens that allow one to choose from a vast array of fabrics and decorative prints to suit the interior. The superior product range has been awarded for its groundbreaking designs and is sold worldwide. Going back to the roots of Danish loudspeaker design, Artcoustic has transformed the way sound and speakers can enhance the atmosphere and interior. The Artcoustic loudspeaker has effectively erased the distinction between a loudspeaker and furnishing, yet remains true to the intended purpose: Superb reproduction of sound.
