U.K. Band Will Play Lollapalooza July 28 And Perform At

Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre October 7

Bastille returns with “Good Grief,” the opening track and first single from the U.K. band’s forthcoming album, Wild World. Annie Mac gave the song its world premiere today as the “Hottest Record in the World” on her BBC Radio 1 show. Stateside, it received an iHeart Radio World Premiere, broadcast on all 36 of their Alternative stations across America.

“Good Grief” can be purchased now on iTunes and streamed on Spotify. With a hypnotic bassline, skittish synths andsoaring vocals, the track builds to a huge, rousing chorus. It’s unmistakably a Bastille song, euphoric yet melancholic, and fans of the band’s early,dialogue-strewn mixtapes will enjoy its sampling of Kelly Le Brock from the 1980’s cult classic, Weird Science. “Good Grief” was written by Dan Smith and co-produced by Mark Crew.

The band will be playing numerous festivals this summer, including Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Osheaga. Prior to Lollapalooza, Bastille will play an intimate show at Chicago’s Vic Theatre on July 27. The band will headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on October 7. See below for itinerary. Additional headline dates will be announced.

It’s only beenfiveyears since South Londoner Dan Smith (vocalist/songwriter) started Bastille alone in his bedroom, releasing 300 copies of debut single “Flaws/Icarus.” Joined byChris Wood (drums), Will Farquarson (guitar) and Kyle Simmons (keyboards),the band line-up was complete. Bastille’s debut album, Bad Blood (Virgin Records), was released in 2013 and has now sold more than four million albums worldwide alongside 11 million singles. In the U.S., three tracks entered the Top 5 at Alternative radio – the 5x Platinum single “Pompeii” and the Gold-certified “Bad Blood” and “Flaws.” “Pompeii” topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Adult Alternative Songs charts and peaked at No. 3 on the Pop Songs chart. Bastille received two GRAMMY® nominations and two American Music Awards nominations.

Wild Worldretains the vivid, filmic songwriting of its predecessor but pushes the band’s unique sound in new directions. Lyrically, too, it’s a leap forward. “If our first album was about growing up and the anxieties surrounding it, our secondis about trying to make sense of the world around you, both as you see it and as it’s presented to you through the media,” Dan Smith explains. “It’s also about asking questions of the world and of the people in it.”

Bastille announced the album’s title by releasing this cinematic trailer on Facebook last week. It amassed over 500,000 views in just 48 hours and now has upwards of 1.2 million views. The band revealed further details about Wild World in this exclusive DIY cover story.
