About Oz Con International: Oz Con International is a community festival, in association with Winkie Con, celebrating the connection Coronado has with The Wizard of Oz and its author, L. Frank Baum. In the early 1900s, writer L. Frank Baum and his wife Maud escaped the hard eastern winters and came to Coronado. They stayed in a charming home near the ocean and the Hotel del Coronado, where Baum wrote many of his magic tales. Now Oz returns to Coronado in Oz Con International, finding life again through children's camps, films, live theatre, concerts, dance & musical reviews, exhibitions, lectures, and tours of what Baum referred to as the Enchanted Island.
