American Heart Association’s Vestido Rojo Scheduled for April 25

OKLAHOMA CITY – The American Heart Association (AHA) will hold its annual Vestido Rojo on Sat., Apr. 25, 2015 at the NCED Conference Center and Hotel, 2801 East State Hwy 9, Norman, OK, 73071. The one-day event is free to attend and will provide health screenings and educational sessions beginning at 8 a.m.

"Hispanic women develop heart disease about 10 years earlier than non-Hispanic women and only 1 in 3 Hispanic women are aware heart disease is their No. 1 killer," said Nancy Grayson, AHA Senior Regional Director, Health Equity.

Leading authorities from across the state will discuss nutrition and healthy lifestyles for Hispanics. Breakout sessions will discuss stroke, hypertension, nutrition, as well as other topics. Registration is preferred and lunch is provided to all attendees.

"Many Hispanic women are more likely to take preventative action for their families when it comes to heart health,” continued Grayson. “This often means they completely ignore their own health in the process which can become deadly. The goal of Vestido Rojo is to enlighten Hispanic women to their potential heart health challenges."

Vestido Rojo is held in conjunction with the American Heart Association's national Go Red Por Tu Corazon, which raises awareness among Hispanic women about their No. 1 health threat - heart disease. For more information, please contact Nancy Grayson at (405) 636-7458 or click here.
