Ocoee MLK Unity Parade and Celebration

Ocoee, Florida – The City of Ocoee Human Relations Diversity Board will be

hosting its 4th Annual Martin Luther King Unity Parade and Celebration on

Monday, January 18, at 10:00 a.m.

The parade route begins at Citrus Elementary on Clarke Road and ends at

the Belk Department store parking lot at the West Oaks Mall. Immediately

following the parade, there will be a MLK celebration from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00

p.m., which will include a bounce house for kids, blood pressure and health

screenings, blood donations to The Florida Blood Centers, performances from

the Winter Garden Community Choir, face painting, music and food vendors.

Sheriff Jerry Demings will be serving as Grand Marshall and the Mistress

of Ceremony will be Gail Paschall Brown from WESH Channel 2. Dr. Paul Ortiz,

Associate Director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program, University of

Florida, will be the guest speaker. His topic: “Reclaiming the Dream for the

21st Century for Everyone.”
