Creativity World Forum Bringing

Big Names to Oklahoma City in November 2010

Oklahoma City, OK – Creative Oklahoma announced today its first confirmed presenters for the 2010 Creativity World Forum.Creative game-changers, innovative companies and entrepreneurial trailblazers across Oklahoma and the world have been invited to attend the forum. The initial lineup includes:

  • Daniel Pink, Bestselling business and technology author and former White House speechwriter to Vice President Al Gore, his latest book Drive is on the New York Times Bestseller List. Pink’s first book, Free Agent Nation: The Future of Working for Yourself, was a Washington Post bestseller that Publishers Weekly says “has become a cornerstone of employee-management relations.” His articles on business and technology appear in many publications, including the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, and Wired, where he is a contributing editor. He has provided analysis of business trends on CNN, CNBC, ABC, NPR, and other networks in the U.S. and abroad. He also lectures to corporations, associations, and universities around the world on economic transformation and the new workplace.
  • Sir Ken Robinson, Internationally-renowned expert in the field of creativity and innovation in business and education, writer, speaker and author of The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything. Born in Liverpool in 1950, he gained a Ph.D. in 1981 from the University of London for research into drama and theatre in education. He was the principal author of "The Arts in Schools: Principles, Practice and Provision", a standard text in the UK and around the world. In June 2003, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his outstanding achievements as a writer, speaker and leader in creativity, the arts and education.
  • Blake Mycoskie, founder & chief shoe giver of TOMS Shoes, is an inspiring entrepreneur that in just 2.5 years has given over 130,000 pairs of shoes to children in need, and in the next twelve months, will give an additional 300,000 pairs of shoes. Filled with passion and incredible energy, Mycoskie shares his personal story of creating TOMS Shoes while on vacation in Argentina, and how he transformed an idea into the most talked about company in the shoe industry. Blake’s message of One for One giving inspires both business leaders and non-profits to rethink how everyone can make the world a better place.
  • David Edwards, author ofArtScience: Creativity in the Post-Google Generation/ (Harvard University Press, 2007) which describes the richness of dialog between and cross-exploration of the arts and the sciences in culture, education, industry and society. His essay develops the relevance of artistic engagement as a scientist, and scientific engagement as an artist, drawing from his own experiences and those of other artists and scientists actively creating in the arts and sciences today.

Edwards is the founder of Le Laboratoire, a new art and science cultural center in Paris's first arrondissement, which opens to the public in the fall of 2007. He is also a founder of the Cloud Foundation, which owns and operates Cloud Place, an urban teen art center, and of L'assocation Nuage France, a parallel urban teen art organization in Paris.

Held in Oklahoma City this November 15-17, the Creativity World Forum focuses on creativity and innovation. In years past, this meeting of the minds has been hosted in China, Belgium and Germany. Most importantly, it spotlights the city and state as the creative region in North America.
